i got the invite at 3:15 today. don't panic if you haven't gotten it yet...they clearly didn't all go out at the same time. any luck scheduling interviews in january? i can't really do december either....

Yes once I receive the package I plan to withdraw Darden. It doesn't seem completely official yet.

The Darden Office of Admissions has just started sending out interview invitations for applicants living in the U.S.—many more are yet to come. For those living outside of the U.S., the process to interview is slightly different and no invitations have gone out yet. feel free to add me to your role call

680 gmat / 3.4 gpa / business major / 4 years work exp in corporate banking at matriculation

applied all "rd 1":
-chicago (interviewed already, waiting for decision - dec 16th)
-ut (interviewed yesterday, 4-6 week wait)
-emory (mandatory interview completed, and they just received all my info - I forgot to send official trans, otherwise I would have a decision in the next week -, 4-6 week wait)
-nyu - waiting for interview

-darden - waiting for an interview ..... not sure if getting an interview at chicago means I will autommatically get one at darden ADVISE?!?!?!?!?! I dont think it does because schools look at apps different.

Attended an event for Darden and I loved the people. Although it is a smaller school their alumni "get-it". Alumni grads from 70s all the way to recent. I feel like the networking and connections at Darden are deep when compared to other programs. Furthermore, they even came with spouses... really speaks to the culture of the program.

It is certainly not automatic. Think, you could have done an amazing job on the Chicago app but wrote in gibberish for the Darden one. That said, knowing that you are capable of producing an interview worthy app at Chicago would suggest that you could do the same for Darden.

for those that have not been invited to interviews, my recomender just told me that he received an e-mail mentioning that darden did not get an attachment with his letter

this tells me that darden is (i) actively reviewing applications and (ii) I probably have not heard anything yet because my application is incomplete

this may be the case with others, and since it is out of applicants hands, all we can do is wait

You've been added to the R1 list...

Definitely not a guarantee for an interview. There are plenty of people throughout the years on this board that have gotten into places like Stanford or Havard but didn't receive interview invites at places like Columbia or Booth. Like you said, they may look for different things, you may catch a bad break with those that review your application, or hell you may well have not put together as good of an application to a particular school and all that can work against you. It's a crapshoot.

But like duckpond said, the fact that you got an interview invite from Booth means you have a strong profile so best of luck.

PS: Like you, a reception I had with Darden alums was terrific. Fell in love with the school and its people at that point. I can't wait to head down there in a few weeks, just wish I could sit in on a class while there.

In terms of keeping our numbers accurate, should we close down the R1 list and see how we do going forward? Obviously the number of people that come on here last minute and report an invite will be drastically higher than the number that come on here and report a ding thus skewing our numbers. It's up to you guys though, obviously.
