I haven't been home yet today, but if they went out on Wednesday, I would assume we should get them today or tomorrow in the Continental United States. For me, I figure 1 day to travel from Charlottesville to DC. 1 or 2 days to travel from DC to the major US in which I'm located. And one day to travel from my city's post office to my apartment. Then again, that would have meant I would have received the packet by now. I obviously have too much faith in the USPS.

Agreed. I'm in northern VA and I was expecting it on Saturday at the latest. Alas, I'm still waiting for the mailman...

Definitely sympathize with that! But the little gifts were a nice touch.

Spoiler alert, I guess haha:
My packet came with my admit letter, a letter from the financial aid office (that sneakily said I didn't qualify for a scholarship in the second to last paragraph), a booklet on life in Charlottesville, a Darden keychain, and a Darden car decal.

Can you describe a typical day for a FY and for a SY Darden student?

Will there be time for me to go home between classes and learning team meeting?
How do SY students have more flexible schedule? Is it less classes they take? or??

Random housing questions for you: Do Huntington Village and Ivy Gardens apartments have washer dryer hookups?

Are there any apartment complexes where a lot of Darden Students live besides Huntington Village and Ivy Gardens?

Thanks!

They had shipped a packet both to my preferred address here in States and the permanent address back in India. Surprisngly, the packet reached India first and I am still waiting on the mailman. It was my parents who informed me of the moolah, or lack thereof.

I assume most of you will show up for the admit weekend. I see it as an important event for me to put a closure on the decision making process. Passion to get a business degree and opportunities subsequently kept me going in the application process but now when the decisions are out leaving this constant source of income (job) is proving to be difficult. How about you guys? Is any of you facing a similar predicament?

Well for me it is certainly a bizzare feeling, but it isn't a hard decision per se. I am very ready to bring career number 1 to a close, and I couldn't be more excited about what is next.

Just a heads up...this thread could be helpful with "life in Charlottesville"-type questions!
uva-darden-class-of-2014-admitted-students-thread-129709.html

I wish I could attend Darden Days, but it's going to be impossible to take off work that day and I don't know if it'll be worth it to head down for part of Saturday. Anyone who goes...please post any new information on these boards! I'll be eternally grateful! :)

Ivy does not have washer/dryer hookups at all, so tenants have to use the coin-operated washer/dryer rooms. Some units in Huntington have it, but not all. I would say 80% of the student population live in Ivy or Huntington. Other than these two, the rest of the population is spread out in the Cville area (and a rare few live outside of the city border).

A typical day for a FY and SY differ a lot. For FY, you have classes from 8 to 1:10, Monday through Thursday. Then in the afternoon, students typically do recruiting stuff and reading cases. At 7pm, you join your learning team and crank out the cases for next day. It's an extremely hectic way to live, but it's also very fun. Second years don't have the stringent 8 to 1:10 schedule because they get to pick their own classes, which operate at different times. Through a first-year's eyes, second-years have more free time on their hands, but this is very subjective. Second-years are also the people running the school, so a lot falls on their shoulders. I do not believe the classload is much different but they don't have learning team at night.

In terms of going home between classes, don't count on that for first-year since you pretty much classes back to back from 8 to 1:10. Good news is at 1:10, you're pretty much done with "mandatory" classes. Learning teams don't meet until 7pm (that's how it starts off and some teams do change their meeting time, but that's up to you and your team), so yes, you do get to go home between 1:10pm and 7pm. However, keep in mind that there are also a lot of company briefings and career sessions that run in the afternoon, for which they will force you to stay on campus for some time.
