Hey Dosa,
I am leaning more towards Duke as it is a perfect fit for my healthcare industry aspirations. On the same lines, I am waiting on Tepper and Carlson (Both with good Biotech oriented programs). In the unlikely event of the other schools giving me a full ride, I may consider options. For now, its all DUKE.......Yes...I do plan to be at the BDW....how about you ?

As per the letter of admission, if you were awarded a scholarship, you will receive a letter specifying the amount in your admission package.

Lanter1- I am not sure if yield was the reason as the deadline for R1 deposits must be a few days out (May 1st I think?). I agree with River on this and I feel this is what could have happened- The R2 deadline was Jan 3rd and the R1 decision date was Jan 18th. So they would have had a good idea of the number of R2 applicants and I guess they were up similar to the other schools. So they put out a bunch on WL as they probably felt the increase in R2 could probably mean better quality possibly. And maybe that was not the case. So..all the guys who would have probably gotten in in R1 normally were admitted now.

Or atleast thats what I want to believe :)

I am wondering if they had a low yield among the R1 applicants. I am not complaining, but the amount of people off the wl today was amazing. I know when i visited most of the the applicants had duke as their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th school so maybe the yield was low. Either way, an admit is an admit.

I understand but if certain applicants declined the offer due to acceptance at another school than that would explain it...it's probably a combination of your side and my side.

felicitaciones, my friends!

so glad to hear, especially the WL --> admit conversion...awesome!

I haven´t heard jack about the yield, so couldn´t tell ya anything. I can say that we are NOT increasing the size of the class with the new edition. Nope, we just need a little more space....it´s gonna be awesome. for some reason, i´m saying awesome a lot.

congrats again...see you all at bdw, I hope. if you want, i could totally arrange a ´club meet-up.

AAU,
I am so excited to be admitted! I am now deciding between UNC with in state tuition and Duke. I think I am pretty much sold on Duke, however, are there people who take out the full amount of student loans for Duke? Its looking like its going to be around 130k for the degree which has quite the sticker shock! Plus I only live about 10 minutes away from Fuqua, not having to move is going to work out quite nicely.

I'm in the same situation, except I'd be paying out-of-state for UNC, so it's a no-brainer for me. I bought some new cycling gear yesterday in anticipation of cycling the two miles to Fuqua everyday! So pumped!

BTW, I'd also be down with meeting up at BDW, but I can't be there until after 5:00pm on Friday and after 6:00pm on Saturday.

I would love to meet up with all the gmatclubbers! I am not sure about wearing nametags with usernames though. We will be given the nametags with our real names anyway, and I don't really see the point of being anonymous now that all of us were accepted. I would actually like to see the real people behind the screen names :-)

I don't know. It's about 1/4 of tuiton/year. I'm going to have to see if Ross offers $$ and decide after the admit weekends.
