I'll be applying Fuqua R2, which leads to the question.. does anyone know the difference between EA/R1 and R2? I'm sure EA/R1 is better than R2, because I'm pretty sure earlier is always better. But how much better? Is R2 basically the same as R3 at other schools, since two rounds have already passed?

Can anyone recommend me an online calculus course that issues a grade?
I am a literature major and I have to take a calculus course and get a C or higher to be eligible for Fuqua~~~

R2 is fine. The rule of thumb is to not apply for the last round. Since Fuqua, has three rounds, as long as you are not applying during R3, you should have similar chance of admittance.

Congrats to all those who got invited to interview. If you have any questions regarding the interviews, please don't hesitate to ask. You can post your questions here or send me a PM. :)

Thanks! What is the interview like off-campus? Is it pretty much just a standard walk through resume/why MBA/why Duke/a couple of questions like "tell me about a time you had to deal with a difficult team member"? Or do they throw in a few curveballs?

Also, I'm unclear about the Calculus requirement. I tested out of it by getting a 5 on my AP Calc exam in high school, so I technically didn't take a math class in college. Does that mean I would need to take a class somewhere now?

I interviewed on campus so I do not know how the off-campus interviews go. I would assume that the questions are pretty standard as well.

I would recommend that you include this in your Optional Essay. They will let you know after you get admitted if they want you to take a class before b-school.

I wrote my grade and AP score from high school in the field provided. I think that was sufficient as we both got invites. I also did not take any math during undergrad, but have taken continuing ed accounting and macro since. I included this in the optional essay. Again, I believe we are good if we got an interview invite, but you may want to be prepared to answer questions about your analytical and quantitative skills.

Congrats to all those invited to interview and best of luck. I interviewed on campus (open interview). Pretty standard interview. "Why Duke?" is very important and I guess that's what worked in my favor.
Looking forward to meet most of you in Durham..

Hi,
I am applying for R2.

Can anyone please help me understand what is expected to be explained with regard to background: personal, professional or academic?

How will your background, values, and non-work activities enhance the experience of other Duke MBA students and add value to Fuqua’s diverse culture?

Thank you.

When I wrote this essay, I had the question "what makes you unique?" in mind. Everybody has the ability to contribute to the community, so I felt that I had to focus more on my qualities that would add to the diversity of Team Fuqua. In addition, I used my extracurricular activities (school organizations, volunteer work and even my upbringing) to illustrate how my values and principles are aligned with those of the students that Fuqua prides itself in having - global Leaders of Consequence who prioritize Team Fuqua.

Thank you so much. What is the difference between 'career goals' and 'vision for your career'. Any pointers would be much appreciated.
