Just to back desi up here, BusinessWeek recently released GMAT distribution information on both applicant pools and incoming classes. Here is Fuqua's information:
GMAT score distribution (applicant pool):
10th Percentile 620
25th Percentile 660
50th Percentile (median) 700
75th Percentile 720
90th Percentile 740
Average GMAT Score 688
GMAT score distribution (incoming class):
10th Percentile 630
25th Percentile 660
50th Percentile (median) 700
75th Percentile 720
90th Percentile 740
Average GMAT Score 698
I think we can reasonably infer that Fuqua is not a GMAT hunter because the distributions are largely mirrors of each other. Other schools, such as Yale and Olin, have much stronger GMAT pull in the comparison. Whether this is true for the international, or more specifically Indian, pool at Fuqua I couldn't say for sure, but this seems to be a good signal for the school that it looks at people more than numbers.
Yeah, you can tell that Duke wants people who really want to be at Duke based on their essay questions and application fee reduction for a visit. Definitely shows when you are interacting with the student body as well.
so I paid the full price because I did not interact with any Duke people before r2 submission. does that mean I will have less a chance of getting invited and admitted? are 100 dollars not showing my eagerness?
