Hello all,

I had my interview yesterday as well (Nov. 10).

It went very well I thought. My interviewer was very nice, and she kept things very conversational. I think I did fairly well.

Mostly the same questions as everyone else here, except one that surprised me -
"If you could form a team with 4-5 people, who would they be? It can be anyone you choose, famous or from your own life."
Question took me a little off-guard, but I think I answered it well. A few others mentioned they received the same question.

Amazing building, and beautiful campus. I could really see myself at Duke, and hope that call comes in on December 19th.

I interviewed on Nov 10th as well. Pretty simular first 4 questions, I also got some questions about taking risks, being part of a team, being in diverse environments, and so on.

I kind of lucked out the personal interviewing me had a very simular background as me and I think we connected well. He was also impressed by some of my projects/stories during the interview.

The weather was absolute great 65 and sunny. I was in the strategy class, the professor was a bit nerdy almost and pretty young, he was showing his wedding pics at some golf club. Duke must be paying him good $$.

Parking didn't seem that great, especially for Fuqua being right across the sports facilities. I think a few student came out to move their cars before th game. But on the other hand, you can get your workout done and walk to school between classes, they have a locker room in the school. I'll post some pics tonight when I get home after work.

Thanks to all who are posting their interview questions - much appreciated! Sounds as if everyone is enjoying themselves on campus. For those yet to interview I can only imagine how crazy everything will be with basketball season starting up.

As for the international applicants, this is straight from the verbiage on the fuqua website:

"To request an alumni interview, you must request the alumni interview and location on the online application. Once we receive your application, we will review the applications and invite applicants to interview. You will receive an e-mail regarding your interview request status. Please allow two weeks from the application deadline date to receive this message."

The deadline was Oct 27, hence making Nov 10 2 weeks later. I still have not heard anything, good or bad. Has any int'l applicant heard anything?

I gather that they are swamped finishing up early decision/all the on-campus interviews and will take care of the internationals afterward. One would think that a school that talks so much about being global would give them a little more priority, but I'm probably just being cynical. Trying to evaluate a whole round of apps in less than 2 months(between submission deadline and decision release date) alongside a simultaneous early decision round is damn ambitious, seems every other school takes closer to 3, and thats without an early decision round....

Straight from their profile page on BW:

APPLICANTS

Applicant interviews are:Recommended
Applicants (admitted and denied) who were interviewed: 80 %
Admitted applicants who were interviewed: 93 %

So no, it's not an end-all the way it is at some other schools. Considering the relative youth of the Fuqua program it's quite possible that there simply isn't an available alumni living near where you are. And I've yet to read about anyone at Fuqua doing a phone interview, so who knows if they even do them. I'd definitely venture that a very, very high percentage of the 7% of admitted applicants w/o an interview are international students.

hmm.. i guess they would first make your application status "completed" and then "evaluate" and only after that call for an interview. that said i know of a lady who posted her telephone interview experiences in a different forum. she applied in EA though and her interview was on 5th nov if i remember correctly.

that said, my app status still says submitted, what about the rest of the folks? do they give out interview calls only after this is done or what?

also would it be a good idea to call/email them and check out for ourselves our application status?

Hi guys - I am about to leave for Duke today and was wondering where you arrive for interviews? I'm assuming just the main Fuqua building in the admissions office?

Mine just says submitted as well, utterly unchanged from when I sent it in. Though my gut instinct is "calling up an admissions office to ask the status of your application is almost never a good idea and an easy way to irritate them", I feel a call/email would be a lot more justified here due to their website specifically saying you will hear back 2 weeks after the submission deadline.

I would wait until next week, say the 19th (exactly a month before the deadline). And call anonymously. At least that's how I'd approach it.

Not to confuse you, jlola, the food garden is also in the main Fuqua building...So would be fine either way!
