In a way he is right. The average GMAT is a 640, and the average GPA is 3.4. Neither are very prestigious nor would they get you into a top MBA program. That being said, if you do well in the MMS program, you should be able to land a good job after graduation.
I think a lot of people go into the MMS program with expectations that are too high. The MMS program, just like any other graduate program, even HBS, does not guarantee you a job. If you go into the MMS program without any internships, do not network, and do not actively seek out job opportunities, you will graduate without a job, plain and simple. If, however, you enter the MMS program with an internship under your belt, actively network, and reach out to employers yourself, you will find a job.
