I am getting more and more convinced that MIT is interviewing fewer people this year for R2. 50 slots for NYC region sounds very low to me. NYC is supposed to be the biggest hub city for them. I think it means they will have fewer than 50 in every other region.
To the person who said it is not logical for MIT to take fewer people from R2... I don't understand and I don't agree. The R2 deadline was Jan 12th. R1 decision date was Feb 1st or something. So the adcom had the R2 apps for ~3 weeks and could have made a decision to take in more people from R1.
I really though my MIT's app was my strongest application.
here is what Rod Garcia wrote
"....As you no doubt realize, the MIT Sloan School is comparatively small, with approximately 324 MBA students entering each year. While our size offers advantages to both our students and faculty, it also creates an extremely difficult selection process––this year, over 4,700 candidates will compete for the 324 places in the class. I think it is no exaggeration to say that the majority of our applicants would be good students for our program. Since we have so few spaces to offer, the problem is not only choosing academically and professionally qualified applicants, but also choosing the very strongest candidates from a field of extraordinarily talented individuals...."
Finally felt compelled to sign up today after a few weeks of lurking; also dinged this morning. After getting a R2 interview at Wharton I thought I had a good shot at Sloan, but obviously it's not meant to be..
