160 K in loans is a lot of money considering my career plans post MBA. I won't be able to pay back the money...furthermore, i see my friends right now in sooo much debt after paying to go to ivy leagues schools and now they are unemployed. BTW private loans you have to keep paying, employed or not....

I am seriously considering not going to bschool if i dont get money. I am going to a non lucrative field out of the US. Paying back money in dollars will almost be impossible

chi, we are really early into the fellowship process....last year quite a few people received fellowships from their # 3 and # 4 school....you said you have two acceptances yes? Only two schools have made fellowship decisions so far from what I can tell...it's always smart to start looking at other financial avenues though.

Did you get the e-mail from Johnson's ODI about the NSHMBA and BofA fellowships? Have you considered Toigo? Are you eligible for Forte? I would definitely check those out, and apply asap. Good luck.

Hey guys,

I feel that we shouldn't worry about FS until we get the final word from the Consortium.

True. However, if your target schools are making calls and your phone isn't ringing.... you should probably explore other avenues. Or if you are obsessively prudent like me - Make sure you have an alternative plan in the event no fellowship is awarded...IMHO

Well I guess we discovered the one negative thing about the forum....without it we would have all just waited around for a consortium packet to come in the mail on the 16 th, or being super surprised when a school called or emailed oblivious to the fact that others have received word...ignorance is bliss sometimes.

I could not have said it better myself, Prime. I know this is extremely nervewrecking, but let's try not to jump to conclusions. A few pages back, someone was bummed out about not getting into a school, and 3 posts later, they were jumping for joy about getting notified for admission. So, you never know what's going to happen. On last year's forum, the same thing happened where people were concluding their chances were shot and then they were offered admissions and fellowships. So let's hang in there, guys!!!

Hey Guys,

Have any of the R2 candidates that applied to Darden or UNC received any calls, i am starting to panic here. I have been running on 2-3 hours of sleep for the last few weeks and I can't take it... going bonkers.

I'm in your shoes ibrokeit. Darden and UNC haven't told anybody anything from R2.

I'm going delirious from the lack of sleep. I really do not know what to do with myself during these final moments. Its impossible for me to think/plan for anything having to do with my immediate future (4 months ahead). My family is also going through this with me.
Adcoms, if you're reading this, please spare us from this torture!!!!!!!!!!!

Ibrokeit, I know a lot of people waiting to hear from Darden, so you're not alone. I don't know anything about UNC though.

Hello all,

I thought I would share my experiences so far:

UNC: Admitted through R2 consortium application. I received an email about activities for accepted students about a week and a half after my interview. I called to see if I had been accepted or the email was sent in error. I had been accepted. (My # 6 school) They are having problems this year with their IT system and are really disorganized over there.

Duke: Accepted via email. Is it weird that they didn't call?

Haas: My #1 school. Heard nothing so far other than they received my app. Bad sign - yes prob but why haven't they dinged me yet?

Yale: Ding (#2)

Umich: Interview (#3)

UVA, UCLA: Heard nothing so far (#4, #5)

Agreed. Ignorance is bliss, but all of the information sharing has definitely made us smarter applicants and the documentation of this forum will give the future consortium applicants a wealth of information when they are "knee deep" in the process. I think our body of work is impressive.

I haven't heard back about fellowships from any of my schools either, but with the information from this community, I know that my applications for various scholarships/fellowships need to be extra tight! With that said, thank you! Only a couple of weeks until we determine the location from which the inevitable future calls from our alumni association telethoners will originate! :-)

As kn2130 said in an earlier post, it's not over until the fat lady sings!!! All we can do at this point is pray about it and TRUST that what's meant to be will be....and whatever "that" happens to be, is in our favor for both the short & long term. Good luck to everyone waiting to hear back, hope to see some "good news" posts today!!!
