So is the consensus pretty much no call for fellowship last week, no fellowship awarded?

If last year's thread is any indication, fellowship decisons will be released straight through to mid march. It depends on the school...this week hopefully there will be more calls from other schools that havent released decisions....Im not writing them because I dont want to jinx myself, otherwise decisions will be released via snail mail on the 16th directly from the consortium. Keep hope alive friends.

Also a reminder that kn2130 and I are trying to organize a NYC happy hour on the 16th. It seems like we have a good group so far, and the more the merrier! Let us know if you're in and we'll pick a central place! Have a great week you guys! :-D

All I know is somebody has to call me this week because I'm losing my mind right now...everyone in this office is getting on my nerves....the girl next to me smacking on her gum, the guy to my right researching cell phones for the eighth month in a row, considering he has a chipped up STAR TAC from 1999 anything is a GD upgrade ok....stop asking me how long the battery life on my droid is....it hasn't changed since the 79 th time you asked me. And if this old man looks at me sideways just one more time.....please I need to know if I got a fellowship or not. Deep breath.

Congrats to all the admits!!!! I have been following this blog hourly for the past few weeks. It has really kept me smiling during these stressful times, thanks! Although, I am a little discouraged with my results...

yale- WL
cornell- ding
NYU- ding
Tuck- WL
Haas- ding with interview, was my 1st choice :(
Ross- interviewed, last hope

I am a white female and applied through the Consortium as I am very devoted to its mission; I left my job in economics to pursue development work in Africa. Also, the Consortium seemed like a great option financially. Now I'm wondering if the Consortium was a bad decision for me.

rlstern00, I wouldn't say that the Consortium was a bad decision. You obviously have sterling work experiences and have demonstrated your devotion to the Consortium's mission. However, the admin process is so unpredictable. So many factors are at play. Let's hope Ross works out for you. I'd also suggest you do some R3 apps. I'd all work out. Hang in there...

Really wish I was in the NY area cause I'd definitely be at that happy hour. Everyone posting seems to be pretty cool people. And of course the fact that we're all going thru the same excrutiating process helps

Round 2 admit calls will begin today

The Dean approved Round 2 decisions this morning. Applicants will be able to access their decisions at 4PM EST on March 8. Why the delay if we know decisions now? You might think it's as easy as uploading a decision file and flipping a switch, but it's not that simple. There are many behind-the-scenes processing and coding activities that need to take place to ensure that all decisions are posted accurately.

We will begin calling admitted students later today and continue through tomorrow. There is no method to the order of the calls. Each of the admissions staff is responsible for different regions. The Associate Director who manages your region will contact you if you are admitted. Given the large volume of admits in Round 2, we will likely not be able to call everyone. We will email admitted students we aren't able to call by 4PM tomorrow. We will be admitting some applicants who were waitlisted in Round 1. Those folks will receive a call or email from an admissions officer as well.

There were many nights of working until 3AM last week reviewing and re-reviewing decisions. (Ask my team how bleary eyed I looked last week...) Decisions are not about selecting qualified candidates. The fact is, the majority of our applicant pool is "qualified" to be admitted. Decisions are really about creating the right mix of backgrounds, experiences and goals among our students while preserving our quality and culture. It's not an easy task when the applicant pool is strong.

As we head into making our calls today, I'd be interested in your thoughts on whether we should continue to personally call admitted students. I've heard some MBA candidates say that they'd prefer to know their decision earlier rather than waiting for a call. I've heard others say that though the wait is hard, they like getting a call (or email) from an admissions officer. I'm guessing that people will largely fall into the two camps based on the outcome of their admission decision. Not knowing yet what your decision will be, I'd be interested to hear what you think.

We are still waiting to hear from UT and Indiana (fellowship), Darden (admissions and fellowship), Ross (admissions and fellowship), Tuck (admissions), NYU (some admissions).

That's just off the top of my head to the best of my knowledge.

A friend of mine got the Indiana fellowship last Friday. So they are going out.


I think the last school is UNC which is around the 21st.

She heard that she was admitted the week before so it was either the 23rd - 25th. Then she got the call for fellowship this past Friday afternoon March 4th.

and we promptly hit the bar...
