So I had applied to Tuck/Harvard MBA/MPP program...just got the acceptance from Harvard though I am waitlisted at Tuck. Should I let the
admissions people at Tuck know that I got into the other program? Will this help my chances at Tuck?

I would wait for feedback first. See why you were waitlisted. If they say something like gmat then mentioning mpp may not make a difference.

Hey the program that I am applying is MBA/MPP... MBA at Tuck and MPP (public policy) at HKS ( not HBS) :)

Applying to MBA/MPP ( public policy) was not a random decision on my part. These degrees very much align with my short term and long term goals...

Ahhhh, ok! Yeah I had thought you were already in at HBS/HKS and were considering that vs Tuck MBA only.

Huh I didn't even realize you could do dual programs at Tuck and HKS. Definitely makes things different.. although I'm still not sure if you'd want to pester the adcom on this.

TUCK mentions something about giving feedback to 10% of the potential applicants and strongly recommends them to reapply next year.
What exactly does this mean? Is it a general email or a specific one?
Better chances of getting admitted next year?
Was the scenario same last year also?

And congrats to the ones who have been admitted!

Anyone have thoughts on Tuck vs. Yale. The Yale brand is a tough one to ignore. I'll probably work outside of the traditional business school career spectrum and think the Yale name might carry me further. Thoughts?

So, if you're working in the traditional business sector and you intend on staying in the northeast, I would suggest going to Tuck. If you're looking to do something "non-traditional" and pursue a career outside of the Northeast, the Yale Name is extremely hard to ignore. It certainly does have a buzz to it that is recognized a bit more internationally, especially in health care and other atypical sectors. You can't go wrong really, but based on your short description, Yale may be a better "fit".

Both schools are good. I'd go wherever you think you'd be happiest.

Thanks for the input. I'm thinking about trying to do both Yale and Tuck admitted student weekends -- both are April 15-16. Anyone else tried to do two in one weekend? Worth it?

Not everyone gets the letter so in a sense it can be construed as encouragement to reapply. Your chances might be slightly better, but ever so slightly (from what I've heard)

Why would you do a thing like that?

Have you visited both? These were the two school that I was most excited about (both smaller classes, good core curriculum). The schools were VERY different from one another when I visited and I ended up not even applying to Yale.... I am not saying one is better than the other..just they felt VERY different to me.

The Yale brand is stronger, but the Tuck alumni network is stronger.

I visited both and although Tuck was my favorite when I started out, I ended up having a horrible visit. I visited Yale twice (regular visit, interview) and had great interactions both times. I'm hoping ASW will show the Tuck I expected to see the first time. Unfortunately both ASWs are the same, so I'm splitting my time between each.

This is interesting. I thought I was the only one who didn't have a great visit to Tuck. But I am willing to give it another try on ASW. So are you spending one day in Yale and one in Tuck? Which day where if you know? I am also thinking to split ASW (between Tuck and Tepper).
