i think what sucks even more is that the applicant pool has grown in size by ~2x for a bunch of schools from just 2-3 years ago... damn recession.

yes, the highest-ever number of applications in EA round only worsens our chances.
i'd blame the economy too!

Really does make me quite bitter, i was planning on going to a MBA around this time of my life since high school. what timing... would've been nice to apply to stanford going against 4000 applicants instead of 10000

i think it is fine. they shoudl be able to do whatever they want, though it may not bode well for us. realistically they dont really need to be concerned about our chances compared to others years, and only with inducting the best class possible. :(

and while attempting to induct the best class possible, they also take into consideration the profiles of deferrals.. so, if your profile is similar to some last year's admit who deferred, chances are you won't receive an admit. how's that for fair?

virus, Life isn't fair either.

Why does everyone assume the deferrals will affect EA applicants? Tuck likes ea applicants which is also the reason ea typically has a higher acceptance rate then other rounds. What if they decide to apply the deferrals to other rounds?

i wouldn't say its unfair, i'd just say it sucks. if you were tuck would you do differently? i'd be happy to show off a lower acceptance rate.

Right - With so many applicants, it not about what's fair. Sucks but admissions doesn't owe us anything other than a decision on the notification deadline.

They don't owe you anything.

Admissions may not owe us anything but a timely decision, but it still sucks.

Any chance we can get wikileaks to crack the database and post results beforehand?

exactly. it sucks. and we can do nothing more (sitting hand-on-hand till Friday) to relieve our frustration than discuss this subject. please don't ask us to not even do that!

I agree that it may not seem fair, but honestly though, I bet they couldn't care less. Their job is simply to get the best class in possible. Whether that means that less will be admitted from this cycle shouldn't be a factor in their book. I know that sounds unfair, but dwelling on that point won't really get anywhere.

Did the adcom mention that this year the EA number was high? Where is this information coming from?

yes, the adcom has been quoted as saying that EA applications this year have shot through the roof and hit an all time high.

I was wondering the same thing too. Everyone seems to be very sure about the EA round # is high?
