What's going on with Tuck! No loans for international students! No phone calls to admitted students! Makes me think they laid people off from their admissions team. The economy...when are we going to be on the sunnier side?

Yes, there will be loans for internaional students.
But if they're only calling those admitted then it would be the same number of calls...... I have to say I almost like this better (though I would have preferred to know about it from the beginning) no hoping the phone will ring just remembering what time to go and check it online. They can call me the week after to congratulate me if they want to add the personal touch.

exactly. as they call only the admitted candidates, the number of calls remains the same, irrespective of the number of apps.

i think the loans being referred to are no-cosigner loans. Tuck recently changed its policy and now offers those as well.

Are you sure? I think they have admitted more students in EA this year, so number of calls does not remain the same.

more number of students admitted in EA this year does not mean more number of EA students for the next batch as well. Tuck is dealing with an over-sized batch problem already and will not make the same mistake twice. expect fewer offers now.

oh guys, when i said i think it may be due to lack of resources i just meant admissions folks are probably busy with something else. As far as they are concerned their job is over. They're probably busy reviewing round 1 apps.

I really wish they were calling people....I was hoping that I would find out sooner rather than later....
Plus, even Columbia calls, and they admit like 750- I don't know why Tuck would change their policy...it goes against their whole close-knit community feel.
The only way they would admit more EA applicants is if the Nov round (whose apps Tuck has) hasn't increased in size as much as EA did (or stayed the same or decreased). Then Tuck might give more slots to EA applicants at the expense of the Nov round. However this would still mean that the admissions rates for both EA and Nov rounds will be lower than last year- even though they might admit more EA applicants, it's still probably going to be harder to get in. Make sense?
Count me in the group that thinks admissions will still call. If you look at last year's Nov round applicants, calls didn't come until Thursday and went through Friday morning.
maybe its their strategy to just say they're not calling so we all dont stress out by our phones. or at least, we all wont stress out until we find out somebody got called! haha
When I had my on-campus interview back in Sep, I was still told that the AdCom would try their best to deliver the good news by phone one day before the decision release day.
that or shakeweight lied or shakeweight's friend lied or there was miscommunication somewhere along the way. everybody shoudl take everything said here with a grain of salt

i was also told in an email by adcom that i'd find out the result by friday 5 pm. although the email language had no conviction, and i still believe Tuck will call.

welll by friday 5pm could still mean a call in 5 minutes
I doubt Shakeweight lied, I'm sure the lady really did say that- probably for the reasons you guys mentioned- they don't want us to stress out by our phones. I'm sure the admissions committee has been fielding the phones all week.
I guess I'll just save my nervous pent up energy for tomorrow then. What's one more day of no eating or sleeping, right?

technically, yes. Tuck might not want to kill the suspense till the very end. else, the thrill would fizzle out. somebody tell adcom that i am already sitting at the edge of my seat, and have no nails left to bite!
