I was concerned about this too as I noticed in the 2012 US News & World Report rankings that ND slipped from #31 to #37

Am still waiting to hear from the rest of the schools before deciding though...

I don't care much about the ranking though. I think the location of the school and its alumni base matter much more as far as placement is concerned. I heard from some people that because ND is a Catholic school, you need to be Catholic or similarly religious to blend in. The admissions office has consistently dismissed this point. But who knows, maybe you need to be Catholic in order to be supported by alumni?

I can't speak as to the MBA specifically, but as someone who has had several of my close relatives go to Notre Dame, I can tell you that I wouldn't worry about being non-Catholic and being accepted, either in the school or by alumni. Heck, as an atheist I wouldn't be worried. This isn't BYU or Baylor or something. What you should at least feign interest in though is college football.

Cheers,
Tom

The drop in rank doesn't concern me. After going on multiple campus visits, I really understand how important "fit" is to the decision. I've been admitted to several schools that are currently ranked higher than ND but after my experience on the ND campus, there is nowhere else I'd rather be. It really is a perfect fit for me personally and the reputation of the brand is held in high regard, independent of yearly rankings.

Still haven't heard anything on my WL status. Anybody hear if they received an absurd amount of applications this year? Crunch time however with decisions coming out for Rd. 4 applicants on Friday. Hopefully this thread will come alive.

According to the program they have dinged many applicants so far. I was told in the early decision round that there was a high volume of applications so I'm sure that probably continued through later rounds.

ND is my first choice.. but now i am having serious doubts about going to a school that cannot make a few hard decisions and atleast reject a few applicants.. quick and pragmatic decision making is of utmost importance in the business world and i dont want to got to a school that has an admissions committe that is too careful to make up its mind.. Its a little "over safe " to keep everybody on wl for " just in case " scenarios.. its too late to make amends now.. I know from the stats coming out that they have already chosen the core of the 2013 class based on stats alone ( read acads and GMAT Score) which i believe is a big mistake in terms of strategy in this economy esp for business schools.. They better start rejecting candidates soon, esp the ones not getting in for sure/ those waiting around for them with admits in hand, so that they can move on.. ( worst case scenario: get their strategy for next year planned out )
