I've looked at last year's thread, and the invitation started going out pretty quick. My gmail is open 24/7 so let's see :)

Received an interview invite today!

Wow, congrats! Now I can officially start obsessively checking 2 application websites!

@shaselai - based on last year's post, they seem to randomize the order that applications are read. The pattern of interview invites had essentially no correlation with submission date.

i called them up... basically she said they do it as they download them and it is random who gets reviewed first etc.... so someone who applied later getting the invite doesnt mean anything.

Did you get an email? Was it an electronically generated email or from a person from admissions?
Thanks and good luck!

Approach the application as if you are applying for a top law school (except you are interested in business and you are applying to a business school). Program was created because some people feared that bschools are losing bright young graduates (just out of college) to other graduate programs (law, med, etc) and as a result, many of these bright minds never even consider applying to bschools, etc.

Thanks. Considering I'm applying to law schools as well, that advice was preferable. I have a liberal arts background (history major), but strong work experience for a college student, so I'm hoping to get a chance to interview and prove myself.

Congrats to those who have received an invite!

For those who submitted in R1, did you receive a confirmation that your application was received or has gone under review? All I have is the "Application Received" on the status page - is that it?

Thanks in advance, and good luck!

Yeah ~ I remember doing that a lot.

In the meantime, everyone should start prepping for interviews (not just for this school, for all other schools).

Getting an invite from bschools is not as tough as getting through the interviews successfully. In fact, getting an invite doesn't mean much. (not saying it's not an accomplishment...it certainly is!) What you presented on the paper will get you an interview invitation. But, it's much tougher to step up and look good when facing a stranger one on one (sometimes two on one).

There are few ways to prep for any interview:

1) If you are mental like me, you can have a conversation in your head by yourself and play the dual role as an interviewer and interviewee.

2) Better way to do this? Find someone for a mock interview. More you practice, the better you will get. And if you learn how to interview now, it will certainly give you an edge once the school/recruiting season begins.

Good luck to every one by the way (not just with YSOM but with all your other applications)

Hey just so we can stop refreshing the app page, did you get an email after you saw the invite?
Thanks
