Any more RD2 news from Berkeley Haas?

This wait is driving me nuts!!! It's taking every once of my productivity just to maintain my job at a non-fireable level.

I just reached out to UCLA. They told me that they're trying to finish up all of the their RD1 applications and send out notices and invites and have not even looked at the Consortium apps yet. They have received them but have not done anything with them as of yet. I kinda got the feeling when I met some of Anderson's adcoms in person that the consortium wasn't a big priority for them (blew of the mention of cgsm like "oh...whatever").... and this is kinda reaffirming my notion.......

Wow... that's very unsettling to hear

I don't mind if it isn't prioritized. Just as long as they treat us the same as they do the normal applicants, I'm okay with it.

Seems like UCLA is a bit slow, but it is very comforting to know they are releasing the invites next week. At least I don't have to sit and wait for their emails all day long! :)

@ TheSenator -

I'll be sure to add my name to the roll call now.

Thanks for taking the time to post that response. That text is actually what had me confused in the first place (I remember having read it somewhere else). I just didn't understand if the "Scholarship weekend" she references is directly related to the Park fellowship.

For anyone else that might have had the same question - I called the financial aid office at johnson yesterday and got some more info. Basically, new this year, Cornell has 3 "scholarship weekends" all somewhat related to the Park fellowship. Being invited to a weekend does NOT guarantee you some sort of scholarship, but by the very definition of the event - you have a pretty good shot of at least receiving something. The weekend is comprised mainly of interviews and team building events, and at the end of the weekend - the park fellows are announced along with all other scholarships that are given out (the amount they have available is subject to change given yield, attendance, etc.) It is my impression that at the end of this weekend you'll either be told you're getting some $, $$, $$$, Park fellow or tough luck and thanks for coming out. They told me specifically that I will not be receiving any scholarship info before then. Seems a little strange bc i know people on other boards have reported receiving emails with scholarship info, but that doesn't seem to be the case for me. Maybe it's bc I'm a Consortium applicant? Who knows. Does anyone have any more information they could share with reagrds to how these weekends work??

Either way - I'm definitely not complaining. Simply getting an admit to Johnson was a dream come true and anything on top of that would simply be extra icing on the cake. I'm just trying to figure out as much deets as possible, so that if needed, I can best prepare.

Hope that helps. Adding myself to roll call now.

On Cornell's website the scholarship weekend is actually listed on the Park Fellows page. I don't think just because you weren't invited it doesn't eliminate you from a Consortium fellowship for two reasons:

1) They still have to hand out acceptances to Round Two folks and that might be pushing it on the timing to hurry up CGSM fellowship decisions
2) Consortium 'draft day' doesn't happen until after the March 9-10 weekend.

It is a bit odd and clandestine how this whole process is playing out but I'll be sure to share details with the forum once I get more information. And Gorges thanks for 'officially' joining the Consortium forum.

Cheers!

That would be impossible. You could however withdraw your application and hope a school that you ranked lower would still be willing to offer the fellowship. But this strategy seems like an unnecessary risk.

Hey everyone,

It is a bit unsettling because I submitted my consortium application on 12/23/2011 and have yet to revieve a confirmation from the consortium that my application has been forwarded to the schools. I've left a voicemail and sent two emails and they haven't returned my call and the emial responses just said "I'm checking for you, I'll let you know." Why would they have not sent mine in yet?

I also double checked with UCLA yesterday and they confirmed that they haven't recieved my application yet. They also said "the consortium sends applications in batches, so you can check with them to make sure they recieved it. If they have, we'll be getting it in the next week or so..."

Does the consortium prioritize certian applications over others? Their lack of communication is frustraiting.

Trey,

Normally I would recommend you lay off. But this is a case where you need to be calling them everyday. Next week a lot of schools will begin sending out invites for interview and you don't want to miss the curve. As stated before it's not uncommon that CGSM makes mistakes. They don't have a huge staff and the are getting 1000 applications. I had success with Rebecca Dockery if you can find her direct number and ask her what is going on. If for some reason you are not able to get a hold of them contact your schools, explain the situation and see if you can find an advocate and forward the .pdf of your application with receipt just so they know you did submit.

BEFORE you do any of that though make sure all of your recommenders SENT their rec's by checking the VIP Page and the apply-yourself site. Also check MBA.com to make sure CGSM received your GMAT scores.

Gotta agree with Senator on this one, find out what happened to your application ASAP. This seems way late not to have a confirmation for push.

Rd1 Consortium applicant - just finished up my Anderson alum interview here in the Bean (Boston). Extremely conversational. I am trying to figure out when decision date is but I only assume that it is near considering that there was a time limit between when the invite went out/when i could interview/when the interviewer could respond with a recommendation. Please feel free to PM if you have any specific questions.

Just to latch on, when you schedule your interview make sure to ask who will be interviewing you. This year they've gotten more professors involved (which is a good thing). Just make sure you are prepared to answer some of the tougher questions they'll likely toss at you.

From my experience, my interviewer was great we dug deep on my intended field of study but I could tell he was testing me to make sure I know what I was talking about.
