Does anyone know whether there are some nice chicks entering in HBS every year? This thing about only 1/3 of admited applicants being girls makes me worry... Is Stanford any better on that aspect?

hehe... this is so funny! LOL! Is that going to be the tipping factor for you in deciding between the 2 schools? :-)

Another Note About Round 2 Interviews
Quote:
https://www.hbs.edu/mba/admissions/blog.html

Date: February 07, 2011

We still have a significant number of interview invitations to send out - but we aren't sending any out today. Our plan is to send out some on Tuesday afternoon and more throughout the next week, up to February 16. Again, no hidden signals in the timing of when these go out. Really.

OK, WHAT DOES SIGNIFICANT MEAN? MY GUESS, 15-30PCT. JUST BASED OIN EARLY RETURNS, NUMBER OF MY OWN INTERNAL SUPERSTARS WHO HAVE RECEIVED INVITES, AND TENDENCY OF HRH TO "HONEY-IFY" POSTS LIKE THIS IN THE PAST. COULD BE LESS, IF THEY PLAN ON SENDING OUT ~760-800 INVITES TOTAL, 100-150 COULD BE SIGNIFICANT.
READING BETWEEN LINES OF POST, IT SOUNDS LIKE 2ND SPASM OF INVITES TMRW, AND THEN DRIBBLES OVER THE NEXT DAYS, NOT SURE IF "NEXT' WEEK MEANS STRICTLY FEB 13-16TH BUT DONT HOLD HER TO IT. SHE MAY HAVE WRITTEN THIS OVER WEEK-END (DESPITE ACTUAL DATE) AND HAD GYRO-HEAD ASSISTANT POST IT EARLY TODAY. SO NEXT WEEK COULD MEAN THIS WEEK.

I wish I were faced with that dilemma!!
In case I indeed have to come up with a decision between those two, that factor will certainly play a major role.

Step 1. Get into both HBS and Stanford.
Step 2. Figure out which one has the hottest girls.
Step 3. ???
Step 4. Profit

I like how you're assuming that just because there's 300 women there, they are all going to be available/interested. Numbers != Interest, sir. :P

Unrelated question to the invite speculation: if accepted, when do you have to let schools know that you are in? I've noticed some folks that were accepted in R1 and are applying in R2. Is there some typical deadline, or does it vary drastically between schools? If the decision date is end of March. When do you typically have to put down a deposit?

Hi all ......
First of all , its gr8 to get this blog post from Dee. A real life-saver !!! & she delivers on what we think her to be ... a straight-forward, no-nonsense lady!!
Cheers to u Dee ..... If u ever get to read this or if i ever make it to HBS .... I am gonna personally thank you for sending these entries out ... & I am sure that the Thank You would be a representation of the thousands of guys/gals like me who have again become very hopeful !! :)

Now, here's my take on Dee's Blog:
There will definitely be some invites tomorrow .... probably at noon EST. Thats pretty straight forward. The catch is about the 'next week' right?

The easiest thing is to assume that the next invites will start from 14th.
But i think ... like I had mentioned in my earlier post ... the next would be around 10/11. It is highly possible that Dee would have written that entry on Sat/Sun and posted it now, and thats why u see , she says Tuesday .... otherwise it would have been more logical to say "tomorrow" ... yes???

While my friend jl12, pointed out a very relevant fact (while chatting up) that she also mentions "today" for monday which then shouldnt have been the case!
Well, I assume she/adcom knew that this post would be going out on Mon, and hence the "today" ... But its very hard to go one step further & think that on Mon, tuesday willl be "tomorrow" etc etc ...... I know I am over-analysing here .... But all those who care to listen will understand the drift of why I think she has written 'today' for 'monday' but not 'tomorrow' for 'tuesday' !!! 8-)

I hope my fellow applicants don't think that I have gone paranoid here !! ;) ...... Just was overjoyed to read the post & analysed it for a couple of minutes, so thought of sharing my point of view with you all !!! ..... & yes, my DISCLAIMER very much holds !!!

So my final thoughts are the same as before .... We get our next wave on 8th .... Then one more on 11th (maybe 10th) & then the final one on 16th with just maybe a small trickle on 14th (or 13th)..... Ooooooppsss, there are start my over-analysis again .... Shall stop myself right here , right now !! :)

Best of luck to all ye !!

It depends on the school, along with the amount of the deposit.

For R1 admittees, Haas has a March 8 deadline to accept/decline and UCLA has an April 29 deadline, meaning that my Haas deposit is due before I'll get a solid answer from Kellogg or HBS.

I don't see where the confusion comes from. The message says:
"some on Tuesday afternoon and more throughout the next week, up to February 16."

Its not "more next week". In my opinion "throughout" means "hereafer" and "the next week" is just another way to say "the week that follows". My translation is "invites will continue tomorrow and keep going (maybe on and off) for 7 days until we reach Feb 16."

See you in the chat tomorrow, my fellow anxious GMATClubbers!

So what will you do? will you try to negotiate delaying the payment of Haas deposit and if yes, what's your chance Haas accepts ?

I'll be facing the same problem between Insead and HBS.

I already put the $1000 deposit down for Haas, but if I get into HBS I'm ok with writing it off as part of the cost for going to a better school.

Don't want to make people feel bad, I do myself as I haven't receive any interview invite last friday :( , but by re-reading the message sent to the guys who received an interview, I just keep focusing on the sentences "we are sending this message in advance " and "we hope this advance notice is helpful to you".
Maybe those invites were sent to all the applicants that are not based in Boston? (US and Internationals) And by tomorrow the remaining invites will be only for the applicants living in Boston and therefore not needing any advance notice?

What do you guys think? :?

I'm curious of the interviews have been done based on date of submission? I submitted mine right on the deadline and was exceptionally confident id get in (family alumni etc). A friend has told me that they send invites out in three seperare categories. He couldn't tell me what those were.

I still have hope!

Can anyone from past years or past rounds confirm whether the Invite email is identical regardless of when it it sent out?
