Yes, you can be waitlisted after being interviewed. Happened to me last year...then ding this year.

Posted from my mobile device

I was waitlisted last year after an interview as well!! In fact they gave the waitlisted un-admitted folks a phone number to call to get feedback, which I bet most everyone did. They specifically gave me 4 things to work on

1) Practice your interview skills a bit more
2) Take the GMAT again (even if you don't improve)
3) Attend the information sessions in your area
4) Take up a hobby like juggling

I'm not kidding they said something more ridiculous than juggling...regardless, I improved 20 points on my GMAT, attended both information sessions in the area and listed a hobby that I hadn't listed before.

And what happened today?????
Ding Ding Ding da da Ding Ding Ding da da Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding
O'McDonald had a farm.. Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding!!!!

Looking through the forum I see a lot of smart talented people with high GMATs and awesome sense of humor denied interviews/admission, and yes the presentation of the letter is "I am sorry to convey disappointing news." which I resent. I feel it just makes options aside from HBS more probable and when one of those options leads to "success" then that news will be a blessing in disguise and not a "disappointment." I hadn't seen that article posted earlier, but another stat shows that the likelihood of one's success is dependent on those applying to HBS rather than those attending it ;) You're all already superstars in the making and it was nice to have shared this ride with you.

Ding Ding Ding da Ra Ring Ding Ding... ee i ee i o!! lol ;)

lol I hear you, I'm guessing if we come back here a few months down the road, our attempts at microanalysis will seem even more ridiculous.

i know man, my point is we should just move on... it's a lot of pain for a lot of us here after putting in all that work into the applications... but you can' never pin-point WHAT really did or did not get you an invite...

Anyways, good luck to everyone with other schools or with apps next year!

Sandy,
I talked to a consultant from Brazil who typically helps most kids and knows 2 of the other top consultants and he actually saw less invites being sent this year. Not only for HBS, but for Wharton too. He is impressed with the number of candidates that still haven't gotten W invites, but maybe they are coming tomorrow.

As for HBS, well, according to the gmatclub data, it didn't seem like more invites were sent. But maybe they were, who really knows.

thanks, I've recanted the more invites theory after getting more robust info, consider that a trial ballon.

great Occupy Wall St rant, and worth a look, but if that question comes up in your H or other interview (and it may) the 'correct' answer is the Obama line, I know what is motivating this, high unemployment, frurstration about gridlock in poltiics, income inequality, student loans, feeling that bailouts were unfair etc. --movement is impt expression of those energies, and so far has been mostly lawful. You cannot understand something like this til years later, during the depression, unemployed guys camped out in Central Park, they did not demand Social Security but their expression was part of the path to that and other reforms. blah, blah. GAG!!!
then watch the clip below. BUT DONT TAKE THE LINE OF GUY IN THE CLIP, HE AINT GETTING IN TO HBS. (as to his idea about spending 3 days in the woods, well, I am exempt because outside his age limit, so ROCK ON BRO']

Has anyone been through the interview? What were the questions? Where did you take it? thks !

I have just had mine - London hub-office. It was a very nice atmosphere and very friendly. The questions were something like this:
- Run me though your resume and the decisions you have taken to get where you are now
- Was it hard to take the decision to ...
- Why do you think that was
- How was it to study in a foreign country compared to your home country
- How did you choose to concentrate to work on this type of project
- What would you say to somebody who is new to your company
- What is your dreamjob
- What else would you have liked me to ask you

So it was very much along the line of the typical HBS interviews. And though it was very nice, it is very diffcult to judge if I actually did well or not.

Good luck everyone.
