Hmm...I was told there would be no calls, and all notifications would go out at noon! I wish you were right though...

I heard, straight from Dee Leopold's mouth a few weeks ago, that they are going to release all decisions via email as close to noon EST on 3/25/2015 as possible. She said they do it this way specifically so we don't sit around pulling our hair out during the final days.

Yeah - this is what Dee said at the "What's next" session on my interview day. That decisions would be posted by noon on 3/25 and then they would actually start calls the following day (3/26). No funding information will be available until after admitted students apply to their financial aid (so they won't give any merit based scholarships next week). I think I remember all of that correctly...

Yeah - this is what Dee said at the "What's next" session on my interview day. That decisions would be posted by noon on 3/25 and then they would actually start calls the following day (3/26). Seconded. She said financial aid is all needs-based, so they won't be handing out any money up front (after being admitted, you have to apply via their financial aid office to get any kind of $$$).

There goes my plan to wait for a call on the 25th!
I'm a reapplicant from R3 (waitlisted) last year and I lived and died many times my status update page was refreshing - not sure I can handle it this time around. I think I will have someone else log in and let me know what it says.
This year I reapplied in R2 after completely overhauling my application but I feel I did not use the opportunities in the interview to present a compelling case for why my long term goal or the EC that ties so closely with that. Everyday I come up with a better, more witty, more interesting way to have answered my interview questions. 8 more days of torture to go.

I totally understand your feelings....Btw, there is no way to review our reflection letter on the system after submission right? All I got was a confirmation email. I double-checked several times to make sure I did that correct.

I've been feeling the same way replaying my answers in my head. I really hope whatever we said is good enough and that we get bonus points for not blanking out. There wasn't much time to think and they kept me on my toes. During the first five minutes I was extremely nervous.

FROM HBS Admissions Blog: Round 3 FAQs
Believe it or not,  it’s actually beginning to feel like spring here in Boston. Temps hit the 50s this week and there are even patches of grass visible on campus.  But we also got the news on Monday morning that Boston had broken its historic record for snowfall -  so I guess you can say we are champions!

Every year spring means one thing for the Admissions team at Dillon House: Round 3.

For those of you thinking about Round 3, here are some of the FAQs we field once application anxiety kicks in:

FAQ #1: Do I have to wait for my recommenders to finish before I can submit my application?

That's an easy one to answer: no.

We hope that all recommendations will be received by noon on April 6. Of course, that rarely happens. Our advice: don't wait until you get the notice that your recommendations have all been submitted before you hit the submit button for your application. Late recommendations received within a day or two after the deadline will be added to your file.  It's your responsibility to make sure that both recommendations have been received -  and for you to understand that we may render a decision based on whatever recommendations have or have not been submitted.  

FAQ #2: Can I submit my application without an official GMAT or GRE score? What about the TOEFL?

The key word here is official -- you must have either a GMAT or a GRE score in order to submit your application, but your unofficial score (i.e., the score you receive the day you take the test) is perfectly acceptable. Please do have your official scores sent to HBS. We will verify scores of all admitted candidates later in the spring.

TOEFL scores are different. You can't wait until the last minute to take the TOEFL because you won't be getting a score on the test date.

FAQ #3: Is there any advantage to being early in a given deadline period?

No, not really. We don't begin to read applications until after the application deadline. On the night of April 6, we will begin to distribute applications to the Admissions Board. Contrary to lots of speculation, there is absolutely no correlation between when an application is submitted and when, or if, a candidate is invited to interview. Applications are not reviewed in the order in which they are received.

That said, I wouldn't advise waiting until 11:59 am to upload your application. We anticipate that server traffic will be high and you will be frustrated and anxious with the time it will take to have a successful submission.

FAQ #4: How should 2+2 applicants plan for interviews?

We understand that your school obligations come first -  please don't worry that we will ask you to skip exams in order to travel to Boston!  We will have set on-campus dates but we will always offer our 2+2 applicants a Skype interview if the dates present a conflict for you.

Stanford Graduate School of Business no longer has to share the limelight at the top of U.S. News & World Report’s latest ranking of Best Business Schools for 2016. The three-way tie last year between Stanford, Harvard Business School and University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School has been broken, with those schools occupying second and third place, respectively.

Chicago Booth School of Business ranks No. 4, MIT Sloan School of Management takes fifth place, and Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management ranks No. 6. The top ten is rounded out by UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, Columbia Business School, Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business, and, coming in at No. 10, UVA Darden School of Business.

The schools making up the top ten remain largely unchanged from last year. NYU Stern School of Business had occupied 10th place in the 2015 ranking, and Darden was at No. 12. NYU Stern is now tied in the No. 11 spot with Michigan Ross School of Business.

To compile this year’s rankings, all 464 master’s programs accredited by AACSB International were surveyed in fall 2014 and early 2015. A total of 385 responded, of which 126 provided enough of the data needed to calculate the full-time MBA rankings.

The Harvard innovation lab will soon have a new managing director with the appointment of Jodi Goldstein, who officially assumes her duties in June following the departure of current Managing Director Gordon Jones, the school announced last week.

The i-lab is a university-wide facility that fosters team-based and entrepreneurial activities, and provides a forum for interactions among students, faculty, alumni, and the surrounding community.

Goldstein has been a key member of the i-lab management team since its launch in 2011, and last year she spearheaded the Launch Lab, a business incubator for Harvard alumni that is already demonstrating great potential as a solutions-centered community built on interdisciplinary collaboration.

“We all can be proud of the i-lab’s extraordinary success, beyond what any of us might have imagined when it opened its doors just over four years ago” says Harvard Business School Dean Nitin Nohria, who is the director of the i-lab Advisory Board. “In this next stage of its development, there is no better choice than Jodi to serve as its leader.”

Goldstein holds a B.S. from the University of Vermont and an MBA from Harvard Business School. In addition to being a founder, she has held a variety of roles at General Electric, TA Associates, and multiple startups ranging from product, market, and business development to strategic consulting. She is widely known in the Boston startup ecosystem, having been an entrepreneur and investor in the region for 20 years.

Hmm...I was told there would be no calls, and all notifications would go out at noon! I wish you were right though...

Yeah - this is what Dee said at the "What's next" session on my interview day. That decisions would be posted by noon on 3/25 and then they would actually start calls the following day (3/26). No funding information will be available until after admitted students apply to their financial aid (so they won't give any merit based scholarships next week). I think I remember all of that correctly...

I'm an admit from Round 1. The way it worked for us was that at noon on decision day our account was updated. This can take up to 20 minutes, so to save yourself heartache, I would wait until 12:10-12:30 to check. (I did not and found myself pushing refresh on my iPad underneath the table during a meeting for 8 minutes...). Finally, it said "You have a new status update". You click the link, and there is the letter!

I received an email about 4 hours later with prematriculation website information. I started to receive phone calls that evening. So in Round 1, you found out around noon by logging into your application. You received an email and phone calls later that day. Phone calls and emails continue for weeks. This is the fun part of the process, guys. Now it is THEM wanting YOU, not the other way around. You see HBS marketing in full force. ENJOY IT!
