Re: Calling all Kellogg Fall'08 applicants [#permalink]
Wonderful news River! Every little bit helps :-D

So I'm back to square one on the apartment front. The place I looked at last just didn't do it for me. I'm going to check out Evanston Place and Park Evanston this Saturday. I know they are expensive but I think I'm leaning in that direction. Since my apartment will be my "office", I am currently trying to justify that it needs to have enough room for me to be comfortable...

TJ - Kellogg has a good housing map/list going that I'll send to you in a PM. Once you have access to the admitted students website, you can also see it on there.

GHgirl - Yay, fellow Chicagoan. We can meet up for drinks, especially if you get into Chicago, and then I can convince you to go to Kellogg. J/K. I just decided to go to Kellogg over Chicago so I can help in that department if you find yourself in the same situation.

RR

With that money you'll surely pay a round of beers for the first gmatclub get together in Chi town next fall, right?

Congrats! That's awesome news!

Apollo, you think you are going to not have room haha. Our place isnt very big probably just over 700sqft (dont think there is such a thing as big 1 bedroom) and its two of us and a dog. God I dont know how we are going to fit our furniture...and selling it isnt something we want to do considering its a year old and we spent a fortune on it (my wife liked the ethan allen stuff haha). At least I got my LCD TV so I can mount that to the wall if I need to haha. Every unit we looked at didnt really have desks, they all used the dining room table to save space.

Kwam, I dont drink but a round of root beers on me haha.

Not sure how true this is but someone on BW posted this:

"I spoke to the Adcom lady yesterday and she categorically stated that majority of the decisions have been made"

Kind of odd as we still have more than 2 weeks to go...i really hope this isn't true...

big congrats river! $10K is not shabby at all!

After talking with the Anderson fellowship people, it sounds like if you have ANY "need based" loans (meaning your annual costs - EFC), you can get subsidized and unsub loans. If your fellowship erases that "need based" portion, then you can only get unsub and PLUS loans.

Just for the record- going by his previous posts- he has called up (or claimed to have) the adcom on March 6th (he "balked" and cut the call in the middle", March 7th, March 10th and yesterday (March 12th)....so I would not really take his post seriously.

RR- do you think this dude is Finnwannabe Jr?

Yeah, River.... I don't know how you're going to do it!! The place I looked at last night had ONE closet in the entire apartment, which just won't fly since I'm a girl, with lots of shoes. And - the bathroom was bigger than the kitchen, which I found strange. That would be nice for a couple, but not for me since I don't have another half. :)

I did my b-school applications without a desk or table - just used my laptop on my couch, and that was a nightmare, so I'm doing the full desk thing. I need a good work area to be productive.

Evanston apartments perplex me. They're either really nice and in the perfect locations but expensive, or not very nice, in a less than desirable locations, but cheap and old. Seems like there is no in between. Frustrating!

Congrats on the $ River! :-D

Thanks for the apt info Apollo...it will keep me busy while I wait for the Net ID and pwd for the admitted students site.

Kalia: I wouldn't worry too much about that BW post. I spoke to someone at Kellogg finaid today and she told me not to be too concerned about having enough time to get everything in order because I received my admit fairly early in the R2 cycle (I just found out yesterday). With a comment like that I'm sure there are lots of admits yet to come! Good luck!

waiting is getting on my last nerve too, hahahaha
I'm also expecting a ding
I am still waiting to hear from 5 schools, but Kellogg is the most intriguing out of the ones I have left
I did my undergrad studies at Purdue, so I know the area quite well :p

Awaiting a ding because you haven't received an interview invite?

Re: Calling all Kellogg Fall'08 applicants [#permalink]
i got an e-mail saying I should try to schedule my interview

However, they were unable to schedule an off-campus interview with me, since there are apparently no alumni here in Chile

Therefore, they issued a letter saying that they were waving the interview and were going to evaluate my application without taking the interview into account

With this in mind, I have still heard of people getting phone interviews after that letter was issued

So that makes me think that, if they really wanted to interview me, we could have done it over the phone.

So I am expecting a ding, but I would be more than pleasantly surprised if I do get admitted.

It's ok kryzak

With the profiles I have seen on these boards, and the record number of applications being sent, I withstood less of a chance than originally thought

Let's hope it all turns out Ok, I have 4 more decisions to come, if not I will just have to work real hard to make my profile better and re-apply in the future

I really wanted to go to Kellogg though
