Hahahahaha, LMAO! I didn't notice the Nortwestern thing. that's hilarious!

But yea, you and nervous are extremely creative with yours. Actually, my style is a beautiful picture of one of the buildings of the business school. Like my Anderson and Haas logos. But unfortunately, The Northwestern building is just too ugly to find a good picture of... :P

I wrote my estimated end dates for work for my wife and I. Also said something about my house. They dont really care about stuff you will be able to max out your loans, as long as your ECF on the fafsa is below like 40k you should be able to max out stafford loans (unless you get some serious scholarships).

OK, things have gotten kind of complicated.

I sent my withdrawal email Friday night but it was evidently never entered into the system.

Monday night I got a voicemail from the director of admissions telling me I'd been admitted, and there was "something else" she had to tell me (similar to kry's voicemail). I had a feeling about what that "something else" might be... and I always liked Kellogg, so I called the admissions office first thing Tuesday morning and made sure my application wasn't withdrawn. Thankfully they were cool with it.

I just heard that I got a half-tuition scholarship.

Hmmm... as I said, complicated.

darn kellogg for complicating the formation of the "West Coast GMATClub Posse"! :P

Congrats again terry! Why isn't she calling me back yet? :P

Anyway, river posted something good on BW but not here, so I'll quote it here for us people going to DAK II.

riverripper
Checked the site for you. DAK II is April 18-20th (though a lot of folks arrive Thursday night and go out that night to bars in a semi organized event that starts at 8ish). It officially starts friday morning at 7am but people roll in between 7-8 for registration, so you dont have to get there right at 7 or anything. Sunday is just housing stuff but if you really want to go to that you should plan on flying out late afternoon or later. Having a significant other go is a big advantage with the housing stuff since they look all day friday at all the places. I heard a lot of the very desireable units go quick during DAK II.

There are three hotels the school cut deals with on rates for the weekend, the Orrington, Hilton Garden, and Best Western (they are all in Evanston). Just tell them you are going to DAK and you get a much better rate than you will find anywhere else. Orrington has the best location for the weekend the Best Western the worst. The Hiltons rooms are bigger and nicer, not an issue if you are going alone but if you are bringing someone or sharing a room with a person for the weekend it might be a better choice.

Make sure you arrange for a taxi from evanston to get you at the airport. I used northshore cab from Midway and it was like 60 after tip...from what I heard if you just grab a cab at the airport it will cost double that but the evanston cabs charge a flat rate of like 50 or so. OHare is closer so it probably is cheaper but I flew southwest which was a lot cheaper for my wife and I.

My wife and I had a great time, it really will wear you down by the end of the weekend. You are kept very busy and meet so many new people its tiring and tough to keep all the names straight. There were like 230 at DAK I and I heard DAK II is bigger.

First, Kryzak, congrats!!! We always knew we had pretty similar profiles :-D

Nc, I've always really liked Kellogg. Still a very strong chance I'm headed to Stanford (they've already got my deposit), but I want to think about K a bit and head out to DAK to check things out.

thanks Terry! Yeah, it's funny how we're probably two of the older people on this forum with similar length of work experience (even though drastically different fields) wanting to do similar things, and we both are leaning the Bay Area schools (I have to admit, yours is probably *slightly* better than mine, hahahah :P)

But yes, also similar to terry, I'm probably still leaning Haas (depending on how my deadline extension meeting with Haas goes today), but with significant money from Kellogg and it being such a great school, I have to do my due diligence before making any decisions.

Terry, I guess I'll see you again at DAK!

K.

Congratulations Kry! Getting accepted with scholarship at 3 of 4 schools is really awesome! Your targeted school search and due diligence have truly paid off :-D

Congrats Terry and Kry. 1/2 tuition is huge they dont give out a whole lot of those. They told us how many and its only a handful.

Terry thats a tough choice, both are great schools...obviously Stanford is one school that very few folks would turn down but it is a lot of money. And with your background you will be very successful coming out of both.

Kry, easy decision...you dont turn down a half ride to an UE  . Come on you know that Chicago is the place to be...sure its a little cold but its a great city.

Hello Fellow Kellogg applicants --

I'm in a situation that I'm not too sure on how best to proceed... I could use your insights/help.

I recently applied in R3 for the 1Y program. I know it is not ideal to apply in R3 but, long story short, it was the best I could do. I ONLY applied to this program because 1) Kellogg is my top choice and 2) the 1Y program is exactly what I hope to do.

I did my undergrad at UT at Austin - McCombs School of Business. Good program so I meet all the 1Y prerequisites. I have a really unique background having studied abroad twice (Asia/Europe), Peace Corps Volunteer in South Africa, and now worked/lived in China for 2+ years and can speak Mandarin fluently and Thai conversationally. I already had my interview and that went really well.

My problem is this: My GMAT is crap not gonna lie. I scored in the low 600s with decent Q but horrible V scores. Assuming (and who really knows? but humor me for a bit) that I am a strong candidate in all the other factors: work experience, uniqueness, extra curricular activities, Kellogg "fit", etc. -- do you think my ultra-low GMAT score would kill any chance of getting into Kellogg? R3 decision deadline isn't until May 12th and I'm contemplating whether or not I should start studying for the GMAT again to hit something like 670+. Time is obviously tight. Should I contact AdCom and talk with them about this? I honestly feel that my essays were really unique, and that my application is really strong in all aspects except for my GMAT. Any ideas/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

P.S. Grats Kry and Terry for the admits and scholarships! :)

thanks nervous and svrider! Yeah nervous, we both have some decisions to make now...

river, hahahaha... As I found out from talking to admits, Haas vs Kellogg seems to happen a lot (even the admissions director mentioned that when I spoke with him). With both schools giving me 1/2 scholarship, they've cancelled each other out in that sense. Now it really depends on fit on what I want to do and the "gut" feel. Thus, I got my extension from Haas (a few days after Kellogg) and will be attending both DAH and DAK to make my final decision.

Dumb question alert...

The $1000 deposit counts toward tuition, right?
