I'm falling for Kellogg in a bad way. I think it just might be the perfect fit for me. (in part due to rivers many insightful posts).

Definitely count me in for R1.

Same here! It scares me though because I don't want to get my heart set on one school. (Even though I'm applying to 6)

better to spread out the "crush" :P this way you won't be too devastated that you "only" got into MIT or Chicago or Wharton :P

I think generally people lean towards one school far in advance due to fit. Even if you dont get in there and end up somewhere else you will still love your experience no matter where they go. I have only met a few bitter seeming people in the whole process and I think it was just their personality.

Unless you're out of your mind and only applying to two schools. If I don't get into Kellogg, I'm going to be a very disappointed guy.

So there are a few options for question 4 of the essays. Which ones are you all planning on answering? I'm thinking 4A for sure and possibly 4C....
Also do you think 4B is intended to be the "explain deficiencies in your profile" essay?
cheerio,
ac.

Quote:
4.) Applicants must answer two of the below essays, limit two double spaced paragraphs for each question. (Re-applicants must answer question 4D and 1 other essay).
4A - Describe a time when you had to motivate a reluctant individual or group.
4B - I wish the Admissions Committee had asked me…..
4C - What do others admire about you?
4D - For re-applicants only: Since your previous application

Is 4B where you put include why no recs are from current manager? I was thinking Kellogg has an optional essay maybe in the application (and wasn't posted with the other essay questions)?

Kellogg accepts optional essays from what I remember...that may have changed but you could ask the adcoms to be sure.

Gonna be visiting Kellogg next week~
Any words of advice? :-D

I plan to visit a class and then join the info session in the afternoon.
I am wondering if there is any other thing that I should be aware of.
Kellogg seems to be more personable than most schools, from what I've seen so far.

Be aware that it is only 1Ys there, they havent really experienced the school yet like it will be in the winter. There are only like 75, 1Ys while there are 575 other students set to start in another month...and of course all the returning second years. There probably will be some incoming students wandering around just as lost as you will be too.

one thing that may seem obvious - be on time to the info session and sign in at the desk. The Adcom got really annoyed with the three people who wandered in late (5 mins, 10mins, 30 mins each) and also got annoyed with the handful of people who hadn't signed in with the receptionist.

Thanks river & ac8706 for the advice

I am wondering.. how big will the info session be?
Seeing that there is one everyday, I don't think the group will be that big.

As far as timing is concerned, I hope that by visiting during the summer I'll get more "face time" by the virtue of fewer people around....
As for the winter I heard it's much worse than NY. I think I'll just stay indoor 24-7 :-D

I had about 15 people at the info session I attended. I imagine that once school is open and more prospectives start visiting, the session size will increase...

The winter is not too much worse than NY - just a bit more snow and windier :)

I was walking my dog through campus today and saw a handful of perspective students infront of Jacobs today. All had their name tags and info packs. I am surprised you said there were 15 people there for a visit...that was about how many people were at the MIT visit I was on last fall.

zero degrees will happen...chicago is not that snow though. I would say its more along the lines of Boston. Now Tuck, you will see a lot more than 8 feet of snow haha.
