Off campus interview invites for people without alumni available trickle out so don't give up hope guys. At this point they may not have even gotten to your application and they wont invite you for a phone interview until after that.

I am holding on to what River said above and desperately hoping for a phone interview. I hear they randomly waive 90% of applicants in India.

In other news the radio silence from Kellogg is getting to me. It would be nice if the adcom sent out a little news our way. RR, Jerz, Gil not sure how much you guyz can tell us, but anyone with an inside scoop?

i really want to believe the adcom and take them for their word....but i just think that if i were in their place..i would definitely allocate the interviews to the "better" candidates...

Has anybody after an interview waiver contacted by adcom so far... If I am correct, if you have, then there is a fair chance of being accepted, as this shows that the adcom liked your profile

Had my interview on campus with adcom...

it went well. It was fairly generic. A lot about my job history/ past experiences.
leadership in the past, strengths/weaknesses, leadership style, why MBa/why now, goals, outside interests/hobbies, how would I contribute/get involved on campus, why kellogg...I took full advantage of the "is there anything else" part and told her everything that I wanted them to know.

all in all it went well.

Has anyone been accepted to Kellogg yet? My roommate told me a while back that someone from work applied and has already been accepted. I haven't seen anything on these boards yet. Anyone know?

i dont believe thats possible. The earliest that Kellogg has sent out admits in the past is the last week of November, and that too a handful. So stay relaxed till then

can anyone comment if this will be the case this year too? it would be great if they let me know before christmas. wouldnt want to be thinking about b-school over the holidays. no fun...

From what I've heard, this year's decision schedule should be similar to last year's, with a lot of decisions going out before Christmas, although some people will get decisions up until the decision date in January.

I just had my off-campus alumni interview yesterday and fell it went pretty well.

We met in a local coffee shop and it ended up being more of a discussion which was nice. It lasted about an hour and 20 minutes.

The topics I remember covering are:

-Why did I choose my undergrad
-Details on my undergrad co-op experience
-A time I overcame obstacle (he asked quite a few probing questions here)
-How I motive people
-A leadership experience
-Time I had to confront a challenge or conflict
-Time I showed initiative
-What is the weakest part of application
-How I have progressed throughout my career
-What is my long term career goal and what is the career path I want to take to reach it
-Details on my volunteer activities
-Touch on a current extracurricular activity I enjoy
-Why MBA
-Why Kellogg
-Why now
-What I will bring to Kellogg community
-What I want to be involved with at Kellogg

Overall it was enjoyable and very relaxed. Now the waiting begins….

Then it's a good thing you're not in their place. Both Gil and I got in after waivers. If you get an interview post-waiver, you're 90% certain to be admitted. 8 out of 9 on the board last year I think...

Copy and paste summary of myself from other threads: Took the GMAT in December and got a 740 although I would have preferred a higher quant score than my 47. I was pleased that my overall got me in range of the schools I'm focused on though. Undergrad at a large state school with a well regarded electrical engineering program. I do pretty hardcore engineering work now but would like to move out of that. I'm worried about my undergrad GPA of 3.1 although I did have a better last 2 years. My gpa included D's in two classes as well so I may have to write an alternate essay to explain that.
Just to give you some piece of mind, I had 2 F's (well, one was a WF) and only a 710 GMAT, and I was admitted. But, I did make sure to own up to my mistakes and show how I treated them as learning experiences in my alternative essay. Good luck to you and let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks for your experiences. What was your work experience like and your extracurricular activites?

What kind of exracurricular activities does kellogg expect out of a person? Right now, I am currently in the BBBS, but should I do even more on top of that?

Yeah. not sure if its 90% but a lot of those who come off waivers get admitted - think about it as if instead of being interviewed like everyone you are being interviewed after they read your application and want to meet you.

I think I posted a recap in last year's thread.

AhA! Its funny how the thread here keeps throwing out exactly the info I am looking for. How long after the waiver do the phone interviews trickle out. I know they are random... but is it early December a bunch of phone interviews followed by decision mid Dec ...? (If I remember from the old thread that was what happened with Gil.)

If I remember correctly, the waiver came pretty early, the interview was towards the end of the interviews and the admit was two or three days after it started but I'm under the impression that this varies from applicant to applicant.
