Thanks RogerDodger! I'm in for R1.

Some info from the Boston MBA Admissions Tour: Jennifer Burke, Asst Admissions Officer, talked about the scatter plot, used for evaluating applicants' potential. The info was similar to what's posted here:
https://gmatclub.com/forum/calling-all-fall-2010-mit-sloan-applicants-79470-60.html#p637172

She also mentioned there were eight competencies evaluated, but wouldn't reveal which ones, for obvious reasons.

- Bumped into the correct thread -

Two questions for the masses:

1 - I've taken both the GRE and GMAT. My scores for both tests have about an equal breakout (V-92 %tile, Q-87 %tile, C-96 %tile). Is it worth listing both? The application says "You may list your GRE score in lieu of taking the GMAT". Better to include both for an additional data point? Thoughts?

2 - The application asks you to identify your grades if you've taken "Microeconomics" and "Calculus". However, the FAQ says you should list your grade for "Economics". Is it appropriate to include my Macroeconomics grade since I never took microeconomics? Also, do I list each of my 3 calculus grades separately or average them into one overall "Calculus" grade?

Damn your ambiguity, MIT! I thought you were a quantitative school!

Does anyone else think MIT's requirement of only using experiences within the last 3 years is difficult? For the 3 essays plus the cover letter, you need four solid accomplishments. 3 years seems like too short a time!

count me in for R 1 as well

I`ve got a question regarding reapplicants essay.
I described one situation in the essay that happaned in the early 2009. And actually I`d like to leave this story with minor changes. Is it appropriate? Or it is obliged to wright absolutely different essays once you`re a reapplicant?

thanks!!

Does anyone know where MIT stands in terms of attracting/accepting international applicants as compared to HBS and Wharton?

I didn't have any difficulty finding 3 unique stories for the essays, but I've had a pretty action-packed 3 years (fortunately). I haven't finished my cover letter yet, so I'll share more detailed opinions after I've formed them. Generally speaking, the cover letter should be used to express your interest and fit with the program, so you shouldn't need a fully-developed unique "story" for that component of the application.

I have just over 2 years of experience and I am interested in MC. I wanted to know how MIT looks at the younger candidates. Wherever I read about it, I see the avg experience is around 4-5 years. Should i be looking at other options. I really want to apply here because of High tech emphasis. Any suggestions on this end

I'm quoting myself....

I wrote the first draft of my cover letter today and I think it came out pretty good. However, I didn't fully elaborate on a detailed example of "how" I had an impact on an organization. I listed a couple of accomplishments, all of which were positive impacts on the organization, but I didn't devote a paragraph to elaborating on a story. Has anyone talked to the adcom about this yet? I might call them tomorrow for clarification.

Directions: "Describe your accomplishments and include an example of how you had an impact on a group or organization."

I wrote about:
-Why I'm seeking a place in the program
-How I've researched the program (interactions with students and admissions officers)
-Details about me (accomplishments/development/impact)
-Features of the program I'd like to help develop
