Hello Mike,

I believe if you have been wait listed twice, you hold a greater chance and high probability of getting into school. Hang tight and you will get it. I know how stressful it is.

Sloan is strict on its policy of providing feedback and they usually don't provide feedback. But you should try to get it. Did you submit any update to school after you hear about WL? May be joining HBS CORe program or some update in job etc?

Regards

Mike5326

Please hang in there mike.. you are not alone.. I am waitlisted again (third time). I think they will start opening the seats for waitlist from Round 1... only when the admits do not accept. DO we know of anyone who was waitlisted in Round 1 or Round 2 .. who have either received an ADMIT / REJECTION till now? I think all are being Waitlisted ... that's my perception - if anyone is aware of better information please do share. Thanks!

Thanks, Mahblr, it is good to see you again. As always, I appreciate your encouragement.

I don’t know if anyone was waitlisted in R2. It is my understanding that those admitted in R1 had until February to demonstrate their intent to attend by depositing $10k (which goes towards tuition). Either there are waitlisted candidates that we don’t know about that have been offered a place in the class, or the yield rate is 100%. I believe the lack of alternative programs (otherwise than MSX) probably makes for a higher yield rate compared to that of traditional MBA programs, where most applicants apply to multiple schools.

I moved to the Greater Boston area last week. If I am not accepted this year, I will request to meet with admissions to solicit feedback. I believe those continuously waitlisted are owed that, even if they are unable to meet with admissions in person.

Do you plan to reapply next year if things don’t work out?

Best,
Mike

Hi Alicia,

Thanks for your encouragement.

I submitted a total of four updates, two after being waitlisted in R1 and two after being waitlisted in R2. I also had four alumni submit letters of support on my behalf.

I’m not sure what more I could do at this point. I am retiring from the military in two months. I was recently invited to attend a biotechnology networking event in Cambridge at the end of the month, so perhaps I may mention this to adcom as it relates to the career aspirations I outlined in my application.

Best,
Mike

No Mike.. if not this year, it will not work for me next year. Hence either things work out this year or I drop it :) Given I am in midst of my own startup....next year will not be possible basis the stage we will be in. Wishing you all the best!

Well, hopefully it will work out for us both. If not, best of luck with the startup; that has to be pretty exciting!

Best,
Mike

It sure does. I’m surprised the class is that size. Thanks for the update and best of luck to you!

140 accepted candidates!!

In one of the session, admission person said this year they are going to keep class size only to 100. She said last year was exception when they admitted 132 students.

Alicia, that is what I heard as well. I spoke to someone in this year’s class yesterday and he told me that his class size was an anomaly.

Mike5326, If they have accepted 140 students, they will accept you as well else they wouldn't have made wait for so long. You can submit an update to your application saying you are enrolling for the below programs.

Harvard CORe (Financial Accounting, Business Analytics, Economics)
Mathematics for Management, Quantitative Methods, and Finance offered by the Harvard Business Review Learning Program

I figured you probably got that info from those who were accepted this year. If everyone admitted is added to a Slack channel, then it’s easy to see how many people have a place in the class. With that said, I’m still trying to wrap my head around the 140 figure. Thanks again for the update.

Thanks, Alicia, I think your reasoning is sound. I did submit an additional update after being waitlisted in R3; the update mostly revolved around our relocation to the area as well as takeaways from a biotechnology event in Cambridge I attended last night.

I appreciate your advice regarding additional coursework to consider, but at this point, my priority is to focus on making the transition from military service to the private sector. I’m looking at 8 weeks until that transition occurs.

However, the coursework you recommended is something to consider to strengthen my application should I decide to apply again in the fall.

As always, thanks for the encouragement and advice!

Best,
Mike

hi MIke, I circle back and want to see good news from you. But I didn't expect that they WLed you for the third time. This is already the last round, if still WL, when will the school give you the final decision. I didn't get it because I thought 3/22 closed this years' application.

Anyway, Good luck! Still looking forward to your good news.

Hi Kevin, I apologize for not responding sooner and I hope you’ve been well. Regarding my status, I’m not sure what is going to happen. There is zero communication from the school. I suspect that I’ll remain waitlisted until the class starts, then they’ll send me a rejection.

Best,
Mike

Hi Alicia,

No news yet. I’m interviewing with a few companies now but secretly hoping I’ll get a call. But I know the chances are slim, and if I accept an offer with a company before June, I will relinquish my spot on the waitlist. Thanks for checking in on me!

Best,
Mike

Hi Mike - Any news yet... I have no news at all from the school...Just wondering why there is no decision? Keeping on WL looks quite weird for so long. Would you know what is the last date given for Round 3 Acceptance? May be after that school will have better idea of the class size and then take a call on WL candidates.. Do share if you get to hear anything..
