Guys, adding myself to the list of R2 applicants this year.

I did do something quite stupid with my Stern app - made this awesome (at least that's what I want to believe  ) powerpoint deck and while uploading some 3hours before the deadline, I noticed the damned 500kb limit (i ASSUMED it would be 1Mb - hate the "appyourself.com" way of applying btw, embark is so much cooler - you can even upload MORE than 1MB! anyway - off topic) So, I uploaded a significantly cropped version. Not to be disheartened, I then proceeded to courier them a hard-copy after the deadline  sigh! if only adcoms were sensitive souls!

Anyway, cheers to all!

Actually preeyah, you don't have to upload anything for the creative essay. The application system allows you to "mail" a submission in lieu of essay 3. So if you'd just checked in with the admissions committee beforehand, there was no need for you to upload an incomplete presentation online at all. You could have just mailed in a hard copy, as long as it met the size restrictions set by admissions.

Wow...seems like they are putting a lot of people on the W/L? I guess they are waiting to see what kind of talent comes in from later rounds?

Wow...so it seems Stern released a bunch of decisions today, but kept me waiting still. It's been 2 weeks since my interview and I am getting antsy.

I submitted in R1, currently on W/L w/o interview. I will be preparing updates to the adcom officers shortly. Maybe another visit to the adcom office would do some good.

There is a period of overlap between R1 and R2. I don't really think that any R2 people will be getting decisions quite yet - after the deadline there is a period where the files are completed, and that means they would only be starting to deal with any R2 around now.

If you are on the waitlist it is best to try and work out where the weaker part of your application is (Academic, Work, Personal) and see how you can move to improve it. There are people accessible at Stern who you can talk to - Students there to help as best they can on that. Remember that a Waitlist isn't a bad thing (a Ding is) - there is obviously enough in your file for the AdCom to want to keep you on hold, and it comes to you to make them want to interview you by flushing things out where you can.

Hi all,

This is my first post. I was extended an interview for a R1 application for the summer start program. The Stern website gives limited information on it aside from the fact that you pay an extra $2,500 to start in mid-July and it focuses on building leadership amongst a small pool of applicants. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Are they saying I am "slow" and need an extra boost by taking a few courses early?

Thanks

Stern is amazing. I interviewed on 2/2/08 at 10:30am, and I received an offer a few minutes ago. Total wait time = 2 days. I'm thrilled.

summer start isn't targeted for "slow" students. Some of the brightest people I met were part of that program. Although I did not partake, I think its a great way to kick off your b-school experience. You'll have the advantage of being able to adjust in a lower stressed environment, meet great people, and complete a class. The trade-off being your summer break will be a few weeks shorter, but i honestly think its worth it.

Thanks. I was initially confused when I received the e-mail notification from NYU because it gave conflicting signals about the program. Its something I would seriously consider especially if I can't obtain a pre-MBA internship in my field.
