Sorry bro, I doubt that's the case. My guess is that the first ones they send out are the ones that they're really interested in or ones that fill a unique demographic. They're sending those out first, because they don't want to wait till after they've read all the applications. Those they're sending out they know they'd probably want to interview regardless of what the rest of the application pool looks like. The rest of us, well, we'll probably wait till after they've sorted through most of the applications to reach a decision. Anyway, just my $0.02.

I think I've read at multiple places that the date on which you get the invite has no connection with how strong your app is. Also, I doubt ALL the strongest apps would have been submitted on 5th Jan only :P

But I don't really want to speculate any more. I'll be happy to get an invite :-D

In that case, I think they're reviewing the apps 'Last-In-First-Out'. The first wave of invites had only those who submitted on the last day, i.e, 5th Jan.

I had submitted mine on the 3rd. Hoping for the best :)

Sorry bro, I doubt that's the case. My guess is that the first ones they send out are the ones that they're really interested in or ones that fill a unique demographic. They're sending those out first, because they don't want to wait till after they've read all the applications. Those they're sending out they know they'd probably want to interview regardless of what the rest of the application pool looks like. The rest of us, well, we'll probably wait till after they've sorted through most of the applications to reach a decision. Anyway, just my $0.02.

Agreed. I also think that a large majority of the invites that have gone out thus far are to consortium/international applicants

I put that there for people who didn't announce their application until after they were admitted or recieved interview invites. There tends to be alot of people who announce their application on admit day that weren't on the thread before.

Am still waiting too. Does Ross have a invite window like booth -i.e, invites will go out from date x to date y ?

Any speculations on how many went out today.

PS - please update the roll call.
Also can some one tell me when the admissions office closes - I want to know when to stop looking at my mail and hopefully start doing something productive.

Hey GoBruins, then there should not be any * in front of my name. If you go back and look you will see that I had announced my interview the day I received an invite.

Got my invite around 1 :30 p.m. today. Submitted on January 4th. I am a re-applicant and almost broke down after seeing the invite.
