I got an interview invite as well and am planning to schedule an on-campus interview. Can anyone offer any suggestions on hotels etc...that are near the campus (and reasonably priced)? Also, what is the best way to get from the Detroit airport to Ann Arbor.....auto-rental or are there bus/public transportation that I can take advantage of ?

Also, for the resume that we are required to submit along with the application, is it okay for that to be the same resume that we submitted originally or are people switching up their resumes...?

Appreciate all the help here...thanks !!!!

If you won't have a car, try to stay close. My guess is that between cheaper hotel+rental car or closer/more expensive hotel+shuttle, it's probably a wash, but I haven't crunched the numbers since I drove.

I found hotels were relatively expensive (for what I expected in Ann Arbor). If you have a car, you can pretty much stay anywhere and just park in the ramp near campus.

Highhopes, what do you mean by the rear of campus...Is there a large parking lot somewhere?

I parked in a ramp about 2-3 blocks away from Ross - it was super duper cheap (like maybe $5 a day).

That's true. And there are Ann Arbor city buses that travel on all the main streets. They run at least hourly, probably more. I know there should be one that goes down both State St. and Washtenaw, at least to the highways. Ask the hotel how close they are to a stop or if they have shuttle service to it or to campus.

Got a question about the resume for the interview. When I first saw the interview invite letter, it didn't say anything about the format the resume needed to be in, so I sent them a PDF. But after registering, the confirmation email said that I should email them my resume in Word format. I haven't heard back from them asking me for a different format, so I'm hoping it's OK. Anyone else come across this?

I believe it was mentioned previously that your status will not change on the Embark site and will stay "Submitted" throughout the duration of the application process. My understanding is that they will give you a login/password to a different site once you complete the interview.

I sent in a PDF with my original signup and then also noticed the word stipulation on the confirmation email. I was doing a phone interview less than 24h later so I just sent a second email with a word version of my resume attached. I figured it was better to send two resumes than risk calling for the interview and having the interviewer not be able to access my resume.

Lol. I got the same emails, plus a request for my TOEFL score. Errrr. System error? Or are they issuing interview invites without actually requiring all components of the application?

I just rented a car, I think it was cheaper that way, since the shuttle from Detroit to AA is quiet expensive (it's like 35 miles). I rented a place that was pretty cheap (in both sense). I think that would be the best way since you can also see the town. Also, it was freezing when we went, and I would not want to walk around too much.

I rented a car as well, though I had driven from Chicago. There were a bunch of hotels out by the Friday, though I used points.

On second thought, my advice is entirely unapplicable and worthless.

This is strange - I just got a request for additional information from Ross - they were missing my transcrips, which I know I uploaded with my app. AND I was invited to interview over a week ago. :?:
