Stanford GSB: Class of 2017 - Calling All Applicants!

Still a lot less than last year on this forum - here's hoping last year was an average year

So...last year I applied to only Stanford and Berkeley, and was rejected without interview at both. At this time last year I was desperately hopeful for a spot on the waitlist (which I did not get). This year I've decided to envision myself at the schools I am more likely to get into (UW-Foster and UT Austin-McCombs), assume I don't get invited to interview at either Stanford or Berkeley, and simply be pleasantly surprised (ok, ecstatic) if I get waitlisted/invited to interview. Normally I choose to be hopeful, but I found that it is way more stressful to hope in this case and more painful when the rejection letter appears. Last year I thought I had a strong enough application to get into Stanford or Berkeley - I have strong work experience, grades, test scores, essays, etc. - and I was crushed when I didn't even get an invite. The truth is that most of us are qualified for these top schools and would excel if we got in, and some of us will receive invites in the next week, but most of us will not get an invite in the first place and need to be prepared for the ding.

Good luck, everyone! Try your best to stay sane and know that you can be happy/excel/have the career you envision for yourself with an MBA from a variety of schools.

How should one approach the question 'Why this school'? What all can be included in the answer, and what all should not be part of it?

Well I guess its rather personal but avoid cliches and things that are general and mention things that matter to you that the school can offer.

I really think there is no one-answer-fits-all for this question cause its rather personal

NYC, I think your odds are pretty slim. Most probably 80% of the NYC invites are already out.

According to what I've heard, Latin America, and Europe are the late regions.

It seems I am done :sigh..
I found out that my profile website was visited on October 30th from Palo Alto. But I haven't heard anything till now.
It means my file is somewhere in trash. Isn't it?

Wait... Which profile are you taking about? And how did you get to know where it was visited from...

I run my own company. My profile link was there in my resume. It seems someone from Stanford visited it on 30th october.

I so much want to believe that they discuss an application in October and send invite after 20 days.

I assume Google Analytics or similar services. I also have a personal website, which they visited from Palo Alto. But luckily I found that out AFTER I had my interview.

Yeah gotcha! Well no website for me so I guess were in the same situation.

Nando- More like 4 days left from today. I dont know, I got my Booth invite in the last day at 4pm so I guess its not over till its over. But I must confess I have lost hope and not currently preparing myself for the interview anymore as I used to last week...
