Need urgent help! Did anyone have issues of numbering pages? When I uploaded the word document into website, the pdf shows a question mark instead of numbers.

I am racing towards submitting my applications before the 5pm PST deadline on Wednesday. One of my recommenders still hasn't submitted the reco letter. I'm planning to call the admissions office tomorrow but thought i'd ask - if one of the recommendation letter reaches a day or two after the deadline, does my application automatically get pushed into R3? Thanks.

From what others have stated before, it seems that Stanford will consider your application in the current round if at least 2 recommendations are in. I believe they will not read the third recommendation if it comes in after the deadline. I could be wrong though, you should probably contact the admissions office.

I read from different sources that Stanford interviews are mainly to get alumni involved and thus not important at all.

So why bother inviting candidates they have already decided to turn down? It seems a bit unethical to give them false hopes.

Any idea what are the various statuses the application will go through?
Mine is currently "Submission Status: Submitted"

Also does anyone know if Stanford adcom consists of students like what they have at Kellogg and some other schools?

no, interviews are another way to eliminate candidates. db himself said that it much more likely for an interview to keep you out than get you in. my guess is that after they find ~1000 suitable candidates, the interview acts as an additional filter to make their job easier.

Is stanford very strict about its word limit or is it OK to go 5-10% above like other schools?

over by 180 seems like a lot.
Is it really OK with other schools? I thought all schools are pretty strict about it or else they won't mention any word limit at all

By rule of thumb I just ALWAYS go under the limit. Whenever I end up over, It means my essay is not very concise, i probably have a lot of useless words to take out and weeding back through to cut out 100 words usually makes my essays much better.

IMO your word count says a lot about how you respect the readers time. I have no way of knowing if any one reviewer would be bothered by me going over the limits, but In a decision this important I would rather be safe than sorry

do they actually track the word limit? I thought it was more just a personal feel/sense by the Adcom that they essay is too long.
