yeah, it has to be the case. Keep your hopes up! I don’t know how the waitlist system works (like a FIFO), but I hope you make it off the waitlist! Kudos to you on making it to the waitlist!!

I was also waitlisted. Let's keep our heads up, this means we are still in the running! Stanford doesn't release any stats about the amount of people they accept from the waitlist, but it looks like 9% based on various (unvalidated) sources online. I do know a current student that was accepted from waitlist as well, so it's definitely possible! We just have to make sure our updates in the portal are strong. I also plan to retake the GRE to get a better score.

Being on the waitlist means you are still very competitive! Don't forget that.

Overall my advice (to myself, as well) is do what you can to provide a strong update to GSB via the portal, reiterate to them that it is your #1 choice school, then hope for the best while applying to other top programs. Manage your expectations by staying realistic, but optimistic  . You got this!

I plan to update them on some additional initiatives I've been involved with since submitting my application, awards I've received, and some upcoming courses I have planned. I will also reiterate that GSB is my #1 choice if offered admission from the waitlist.

Join us on YouTube as we dive into the inspiring MBA journey of John, a PE/VC Associate and former management consultant. John was raised in a trailer in the backwoods of Alaska, and his family was consistently below the poverty line growing up. Being the first in his family to go to college, John ended up creating Bain & Company’s (and MBB’s) very first affinity group for FGLI individuals. He also came from a small and little-known growth equity fund so getting into both the Stanford GSB and Wharton (when he knew that they typically have access to candidates with much more backgrounds than ones such as John) was a massive hail mary for him. In addition, John did not use any MBA consultants on his journey to his MBA programs, which is a bit atypical as well

Hi, everyone,

We have added a new episode to our GMAT Club Podcast. You can listen to it at the following link gmatclub-podcast-my-mba-journey-to-stanford-wharton-and-booth-423526.html#p3326092
