Hi!
First off, huge congrats on making it to the interview stage at Stanford GSB — that in itself is a huge accomplishment. GSB interviews are highly selective and getting that far means the admissions team saw real potential in your profile.
As for not getting the final admit, it’s important to remember that interviews are not guarantees — they’re used to confirm fit, motivations, and interpersonal skills. Sometimes, it’s less about a “mistake” and more about the incredibly high competition for a small number of seats. GSB looks for depth, authenticity, and clear alignment with its values around leadership, impact, and self-awareness.
Possible reasons could include:
- Slight gaps in clarity or introspection during the interview
- A profile that’s impressive but too similar to others in the pool
- Or maybe your post-MBA goals weren’t fully aligned with what Stanford looks for — highly ambitious yet grounded in impact
That said, if you’re open to reapplying next year, it can absolutely be worth it — especially if you can reflect on your growth, address any gaps, and show why Stanford remains your top choice. Reapplicants who present a more refined, evolved version of themselves do get in.
You’ve already shown you’re a strong candidate. Take this as feedback, not failure — and if GSB is where your heart is, a reapplication with even more clarity and direction could be very compelling.
Happy to help you in your MBA journey in this year or the next.

Hi everyone,
I wanted to get your thoughts on something. I applied to Stanford GSB and was invited for a Round 2 interview, but unfortunately, I was ultimately not admitted. I’m trying to understand what the possible reasons could be for getting to the interview stage and then receiving a rejection.
Also, based on this experience, do you think it would make sense for me to reapply next year? I’d really appreciate any insights from those who might have gone through something similar or have experience with the process.
Thanks so much!
