Anyone know if Tepper is good for tech consulting? I read on their website that they're good at tech stuff, but are they good for consulting, too? I read somewhere that M/B/B doesn't really recruit there. What about 2nd tier consulting companies?

Tepper places about 20% in consulting every year, which includes McKinsey and Bain (not so much BCG unless students pursue this on their own). Booz, Deloitte, PWC, ATK, etc. all recruit from Tepper as well. The median consulting salary for Tepper grads is $124,800. If Tepper is strong in consulting, I'm sure this applies for tech consulting as well.

Also, this is all public information. Instead of posting the same exact questions here that you do on the BW forums, just do some research. The employment reports are a good place to start.

Yeah, I didn't really see it as trash talk either. But maybe some trash talk could do some good and make this thread a little more active... I'll fight all of you...

I have a question which if solved will help my essay tremendously, does anyone know of any professors or lecturers at Tepper that had came out of hardships? (Physical, background, mental), etc.... haha
I know a weird question, but I am trying to find another character about the school that I can related to.

I agree with Rao. I think it's very weird if you know too much non-public information on a professor you don't know personally.

I visited Tepper the past two days and thought it was very good. 2.5 more weeks of waiting....

Oh, no not non-public, something that is obvious you can see, in the news, or something they said themselves. :P

I really like Tepper, but seems they are so heavily loaded on Computational Finance. What do you think?

If that information was available publicly, I guess it would be ok to use, but you probably wouldn't need to ask it here. I'm still not sure it makes a good essay.

As for tepper being to computational finance based, I'm biased because I was an applied math major and want to continue in finance. Note that the MSCF courses are separate and that tepper is strong at many different programs.

OK, I'm a little stuck on the last essay question, where we choose 2 out of 3 questions. I've decided to do the first one about an obstacle and the third one about something people would be surprised to know about me, mainly because I don't want to tackle the second one about ethics, since I don't have a ready example.

I have a few good examples for the obstacle one, but I'm a little stumped by the third one. I can either talk about my volunteer experience (fairly extensive with leadership roles) or my church activities (fairly extensive with leadership roles). I feel more comfortable talking about my volunteering, but I don't think people would be surprised to find that out about me. I feel a little reluctant to talk about my church activities, because I don't know how Tepper views religious stuff, but it does fit the question better, since I'm Catholic and Asian, and you don't find too many of those.

Need some help deciding. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I talked about one of my ECs that was not covered in the other parts of my app.

Milias, the following is not specifically about you, but it applies to your last post. I'm certainly not trying to pass judgment on anyone. There are many questions on this board where a poster asks complete strangers to make a personal decision about what the poster should do. That is to say that there is nobody on this board that knows you better than yourself. Go with your gut instinct and it's probably going to be right. Would I be surprised to know that you do volunteer work? Maybe, depending on what you do. Same thing for religious activities (might be a more touchy subject, but if done right, it could make for a good essay). If everything else were equal (ie you could write an essay of equal strength) I would take the less predictable topic because it answers the question better.

If it helps you any, I wrote my essay on owning a racehorse and being committed to social responsibility within the thoroughbred racehorse industry. It shows a side of me that I'm really passionate about that doesn't fit anywhere else in the application (which I think is the idea of the essay). Hopefully this helps, and sorry in advance if the first part of my response is out of line.

I wrote the last one about my orienteering activities and how I have a weird built-in GPS/innate sense of direction. My parents had me reading maps from the age of 4.

I withdrew yesterday, btw, as it was the deadline for R1 admits.

I just realized that I need to be added to the roll call from Round 1...

I submitted my deposit before last week's deadline and will be attending Tepper unless I can sneak into Booth R2. Who else handed over the $1,200?
