Hey, who are you calling a pessimist?! :-D

People have long misunderstood optimism and pessimism. They get it backwards.
Lets consider 2 people in the same situation.
PersonA: "I think this place is great!"
PersonB: "I can't believe these fools think this is the right way to do things."

Most people would say that PersonA is the optimist, PersonB the pessimist.
Upon second look, however things change.
Since they are in the same situation, PersonA is implying that things are as good as they will get.
PersonB, by complaining, implies that things could get much better.

So, PersonA sees the glass as "full" while PersonB is looking for a bigger glass (so that IT can be filled).

Anyone buy this? :-D

Normaly i am a big optimist. Hell.. I applied to Tuck with 24 years of age and 1.5 years of WE, isn't that very optimistic?

But yesterday I had a really bad day because at my safety school almost everyone was getting admit calls and I did not get the call, so when your ding is pending at the safety school you are not very optimistic about your dream school. And also, since I applied to 2 schools only I don't have much room for dings :)

There is a third side, that goes beyond optimism and pessimism, and thats pragmatism.
I remember an anecdote:

The pessimist complains about the direction of the wind, the optimist hopes the direction to change, but the leader simply adjusts the sails! :-D

I think thats what we need to do. Analyze the cause of (almost expected) ding and be more prepared for next year. Thats easier said that done - I myself hit the F5 button every 15 minutes and get annoyed. Am not even able to do my work

How is everybody handling the final days of the wait?
I got in Ross so I am not too stressed any more, but still, Tuck is the dream :) so I really want to get in Tuck also :)

FYI we have 6 days 7 hours and 42 minutes to decision! :)

Darden.. like you I am also waiting for Tuck results. But I got into my top choice - Ross. Unless Tuck offers me some substantial scholarship, in all probability i will not change my decision.

If I get in Tuck I will really have a thought decision to make because I am not sure which school is the winner between Tuck and Ross :(
I don't let money influence my decision, because moeney comes and goes but your degree stays forever, and your e years spent at a school will never come back.
It is really nice to hear that Ross is your first choice, because I think I like Ross better also but everyone is telling me Tuck, Tuck, Tuck :)

I will use that admit to get a scholarship out of Ross..I want to take an off beaten path and wud like not to be weighed down by the debt.

I like Tuck for the amount of research they are doing and a small class size..

Oh well..3 more days to go..

Cruelty... just now checked my email and there was one from "Tuck Admissions." After a brief heart attack, I found it was one of those GMASS-culled "get to know Tuck" marketing letters. Given the timing for us January round applicants, pretty rough. I know they call the admits and all, but... jeez. Talk about false flag.

Yeah, when are schools going to learn not to send random emails to people who are expecting decisions :) Tuck adcom grow up!!! :)

I see that you have not been interviewed. You still hopeful??? I have long given up on Tuck. No Luck at Tuck :( :(

No, I did interview. Had a tuck-initiated alumni interview.
Seems like every time they start the role call here they leave it off. I must not have been on the master list! =)
