Screw Wharton!!

DING for me. This, for an app that was BY MILES my best. I can reconcile with a ding, because W is a great school where thousands of super stars apply. But to think that I wasn't even in the top 50% of candidates is really demoralising. Interesting that my 2 best apps, MIT and Wharton netted me DINGS without interviews. My worst app Chicago got me an interview and my next worst app Ross got me an admit. Go figure!

That's what I'm thinking as well. I know I'm not the superstar candidate, but I thought I submitted a great application. To not be considered in the top 35-40% of applicants makes me wonder how the other schools I applied to will view me.

At least you have an admit already! Good luck at your Chicago interview!

nc, there's just no handicapping this whole application process. Who knows what the adcoms were looking for? I take heart in thinking that I will be a perfect fit for at least one of the schools to which I applied, as, of course, will you.
(And besides...Philly really DOES suck...)
That being said, congrats to all who got interviews! Knock 'em dead and make your fellow GMAT clubbers proud!

I am definitely planning to schedule a feedback session and try to find out what happened. I am also planning to PM my essays to a few G'clubbers and ask them why this debacle might have occured. I know none of this is going to change my decisions, but I feel it is very important to understand WHY.

DING! ncprasad, i agree with you! Hell, I am trying to figure why I dont have even one invite so far. Ross is my final hope. I hope I get atleast an interview for this whole season. Something must be seriously wrong with my essays.

To the rest of team, good luck with your interviews!

I e-mailed them back for one immediately. I don't think I have as good of a case as you, but I'm still interested in knowing why.

Sorry to hear about the dings, guys.

This entire process is random and damned frustrating. At Winter Welcome this past weekend, I met some incredible people who only got interview invites from Wharton and were denied on their other apps. Then I have some friends with seemingly terrific profiles who were dinged across the board. I have no idea...

Good luck with your other applications. For those who received interviews, good luck with those.

Sorry guys...that sucks, but please don't lose heart!!!! Keep on fighting.

From your statements, I think we maybe on to something here. My wharton application was in my opinion my worst, yet I got an interview invite, and someone in R1 who got an interview invite and I think even an admit said they left their wharton essays intentionally unpolished. Additionally, while taking part in one of their prospective applicant programs, one of the messages seemed to be that polished essays may create a smoke screen barrier to their getting to know you on a personal level. To quote someone's words, the hunt is for everyday heros.

Disclaimer: I am nothing but the village clown and so do not claim to have any superior knowledge about the ideal candidate...just my two cents.

under "Ding Analysis"

Someone's essays asking for a ding analysis.
I read it, and agree with the first reply completely...

NC, rapidsouza, would you guys be willing to post your essays? (I think NC mentioned it). Maybe you could get some good feedback from the forum gurus.

Just my 2 eurocents.

NC- know the feeling all too well. I got a ding without even an interview from Chicago. That is the only invite I have not received and I have no idea why. Wharton and columbia invite a lesser % of applicants and I received atleast interview invites from them and Chicago- where I feel I spent the most time, dinged without even one. My essays especially the goals parts are similar, and the why chicago part was great- spent a lot of time researching the school and wrote a lot of personal stuff.

I too am planning to schedule a feedback session with GSB if at all possible.
