There's no limit. Mine were probably 200-500 depending on the question and the recommender.

Some questions were shorter then others. I also helped out a bit with drafting because I have the same problem. Truth is though, word count doesn't matter. It's about answering the questions and providing examples to paint a better picture of you...

I am not sure that length does not matter when it comes to recs... A short letter will be short on specifics, in fact Stanford says not to exceed 4 pages, so although this is Wharton, a total length of 3-4 pages would be normal

Stanford's also has to be double spaced...my Wharton recommendations were significantly longer than those for Stanford (i.e. 3-4 pages single spaced vs double spaced)

i just realized that there are only 6 questions (not 7) this year for wharton. they have cut out salient strength question and instead have 1 question each on mistake and constructive feedback. are not both of these (mistake, feedback) very similar? can recommender simply refer to answer to other question in the recommender answer?

Gents,

Do I need to send Wharton my official transcripts or anything in a paper mode?
I thought they need only on-line documents... no?

You need to have your previous school(s) send an official paper transcript.

Only once you get in...I think he was asking for the application process, not enrollment...correct me if I'm wrong though.

I mean, they're similar, but they should be able to come up with separate stories. Both should focus on how you improved or changed as a result of the event though (depending on how much input your recommender is allowing you to have, you can make sure or try to focus them on that)

thanks jmw125. "did not meet expectation" question is kind of drastic - it's like one really failed or made a big mistake. My recommender will probably talk about the same story in both cases. Last year wharton did not have 2 separate questions for it. It is surprising they have removed strength question - where does one address that?

is it ok for recommender to _not_ fully accept that the applicant "did not meet expectation", unlike in app essays mistake question where they want no middle ground and want to accept mistake? my recommender will probably want to talk about slight adjustment of style than accepting mistake...

They could, but mine didn't. Just to provide an example, one of my recommenders went with a story where i wrote a memo for our investment committee that was much more salesy then it should have been and didn't have he objetive view that a memo to our investment committee typically would. He then went on to say that y redraft of the memo took his comments into account and my work since has been much more objective and thoughtful. Hope that's helpful.

I think that would go in the first and last qustions (as well as spread throughout the other questions)...really the whole recommendation is going to be about what they think your strengths are.
