Just got back from Wharton's Winter Welcome Weekend and caught up on all the blog posts since Friday...

Congrats to everyone who got interviews on Friday and to those who didn't...it really is random between the two days. I didn't get mine until the second wave went out for round 1. Anyway, I'm super pumped now to go back to school and good luck with the interview process....oh, and i recommend doing it on campus for those who can get to Philly without flying half way around the world...

why do you recommend doing it on campus?
Well, a few reasons. First, I think all things being equal, it paints a slightly better picture of your commitment to the process/Wharton. Second (and probably more importantly), you can take a tour, walk around, sit in on a class, etc. before your interview which will get you excited about the school and most likely make you perform better. Third, excuse to take a day off from work...

Hmmm....

But what if you have already paid numerous visits to Wharton? I see what you mean about it paints a better picture of your commitment though.

I think it also depends on where you are. I felt it would look (and actually be) lazy if I didn't take a train/bus down from NYC to interview on campus. If you're further away than DC or NY, I think there's no reason to kill yourself (or spend too much money getting there)

Re: Round 2 Interview dates
From: MBA Admissions Blog Feb 08, 2011 Posts 138 In reply to

The Admissions Committee will begin to release interview invitations on Friday, February 4th and will continue to release invitations on a daily basis until 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Friday, February 18th. Due to the nature and complexity associated with the admissions process there is no particular order in which invitations are released. Also on February 18th, the Committee will release all final admissions decisions to candidates that are not being invited for an interview and therefore no longer being considered for admission.
Your invitation to interview will include instructions on how to schedule an interview.

This is the latest post by Adcom on S2S Forums today. Seems like the results will be released on a daily basis rather than in two large batches.

This is weird. They've just reversed their stance from yesterday. Look two posts above this latest post on S2S forum.

Hmm. That statement seems to directly contradict the comments received by a GC member from an admissions staff.

I read the e-mail as Wharton would release daily invitations between the 4th and the 18th. However, it appears that no applicant has received an interview invitation on any day other than the 4th.

Is there a trend in round 1 that will help clarify this/has anyone received an interview on a day other than the 4th?

To be honest, in the long run, it's irrelevant. If an invite comes, the day in which it comes sheds no light on admission potential. Truthfully, at this point I'm just curious.

This must really be a joke... which one is it? Has anyone received an invite either yesterday or today?

Well, based off of the last round, I am going to go with the "only the 4th and 18th" theory.

As an aside, it would take an evil and devious person to log on to a chat board and fabricate lies about interview release dates to a crowd of anxious and belligerent MBA applicants.

I'm disappointed I didn't come up with it :-p.

At the end of the day does it really matter. Just assume it's the 18th. If you find out that you get an interview before the 18th you will be presently surprised.

Hey... Anybody from India who got an invite?
BTW, I called up the Admissions office. They told that that they would be sending out invites till 18th. So 18th is the final date... for sure!!!

regarding interviews. The unequivocal answer is that they are providing 2 release dates for interviews, the 4th and the 18th. There should be no trickle effect.

can someone who scheduled alum interview help with how they chose the interviewer? Looks like the 1st alum schedule page says 4 alum names will be given; the next page in the process contradicts it by saying only 3 alum names will be given
