Good luck as well. I'm at the same place as you, just need to finish the 4th essay and get those recommenders on the ball. Does anyone know if it matters at all when you submit, during each round at Wharton? I really hope what they say about apps is true, i.e. the first one is by far the hardest. However, it's hard for me to imagine that my next essays will get any better than these--I've put so much work/research into them.

This year the apps at Wharton are by different estimates expected to go up 10-15% from this year's >8000. Be extra careful and meticulous with your planning and execution. To add to the turmoil, Thomas Caleel left Wharton this summer. I personally think he is the best guy for the job of Director of Admissions, but I am sure Wharton will bring in an equally talented manager. I see a lot of visitors on campus, on almost every lecture there are prospective applicants, there are prospectives in the Lauder Lounge almost every day - it is getting hot here.

The official word is that there is no difference between rounds. However, I rather be the first person of my background they look at as opposed to the fifth.

I personally think, there is no difference between rounds, and in theory one stands equal chances of being accepted regardless of the round. The only difference is that the number of applicants in the first round tends to be a bit smaller, but they also tend to be the most organized high profile applicants, so that competitive advantage of the first mover is most probably negligible.
