some body who knows Yale closely should be able to comment better..

but in my opinion, it might sound cheesy. I wonder whether b-school alumni are given access to other school alumni networks.

I also went to the MBA Tour in Los Angeles and if I judge Yale based on their representative, I would not be applying.

She was very snobby.

Well, they guy in Beijing was nice to talk with, but the MBA Fair was a complete waste of time otherwise.

I would keep it to a bare minimum. Yale obviously knows that they are at the low end of the elite cluster and they leverage their ivy league status to promote their school.

Well, Veritas Prep has been founded and is run by two Yale MBA's...
Entrepreneurship in action big time.

I haven't even started mine... I'm running behind schedule.

I have done most of my essays, recommenders have done their letters, but I cannot sort out the TOEFL test -- no seats in China (where I am now) until the end of January, so I will have to apply in R2. Hope to attend Diversity at Yale in November. Have you applied for the event?

Are there any recommended splits for the 3 essays as far as work/non-work?

Obviously the "Why MBA?" is more work focused, but right now I am planning on focusing on non-work activities for the other two. What are other people doing? I would think it's more important to write a good essay that gives a great example of leadership, no matter if it's work or EC....

I would rather use the three essays to show different sides of what I can bring to the table. I am making references to my work (can't escape that, can you?), but my ultimate goal is to show that I am more than just work.

I think your non-work focus is a great idea. From what I understood, they really want to know your personality because their class size makes it an important factor to consider.

Yale SOM - No Longer offering No-co-signer Loan for Intn'ls

Unfortunately we are no longer providing the GATE-Y loan, which international students could take out without a co-signer. At this time we have not yet replaced the GATE-Y loan.

Good news directly from their website

The lender for the GATE Y-Loans recently informed the University that they no longer would be providing funds for this type of loan. However, Yale is currently pursuing opportunities to institute a new loan program with similar terms. Yale SOM guarantees that a program will be in place in time for all students in the Class of 2010 to have access to loans on terms comparable to those offered by the GATE Y-Loan program regardless of their citizenship. International students should apply with the knowledge that there will be a loan program of this kind.

Aren't most of the top school's financial placement in the 40s percent-wise?

I think Yale, eschewing non-profit, has yet to find an identity.
