They really don't have a niche except for the non-profit, which in the long-run is not a really good niche for a business school looking to rise to the top.

I think social entrepreneurship will be a big thing. In future many bright and idealistic kids might turn to non-profits.

Look at Nobel prize for Peace this year. The world is going green and kind. I see non-profit age setting in :P

That always helps rankings, but probably not as much as it should. I think professors have such a huge influence on a class. Good professors can take the most dull subjects and make it interesting.

BTW, their selectivity last year was 13%. Don't you think that's really low for a 15-20 ranked school?

I believe they lowered their selectivity artificially by decreasing their class size.

Whatever the reason, 13% is 13%.

They're like the self-concious teenager who's trying to find his image by changing his clothes, friends, etc.

You want us to give you some material for your essays? :)

The only stuff I've found is on their website.

I would use the analogy that Yale is the self conscious teenager who's trying to improve his image by buying fake Armani suits.

This board seems to have quite the negative image of Yale.

I wouldn't say I dislike Yale SOM. I just don't see any great appeal other than the "Yale" brand.

I do think it will eventually jump up into the top 10. The question is how long will it take.

Yale is a relatively new program compared to most of the top MBAs. If it wasn't Yale it would not be nearly as highly thought of. The overall brand of Yale brings up the weaker MBA brand. In 10 years it could be a solidly est. top 10 but right now it lacks a huge alumni base to give it lots of support. Its also a fairly small program.

Though if you want nonprofit it has one of the best reps for that. Overall its a great school, but much like a lot of the non top 10 schools it doesnt get much love.

Then again where is NYU this year?

I guess that is similar to MIT sloan, and CMU Tepper.

I wouldnt say that about Sloan. The MIT brand probably helps worldwide but it is an incredibly highly regarded program here in the US. Its usually considered one of the Top 5.

I got an email yesterday saying they will send the invitations on 10/25...I wonder if they will release any decisions before the event.

I can't believe I haven't looked more into this program.

With the consortium and diversity talk, I assumed I wouldn't be welcome. But it looks to be open to everyone, right?

The email I got yesterday says 'Invitations to attend the event will be sent via email by 5pm on Monday, October 22.'

Decisions... I am not sure because you do not have to have applied to Yale in order to take part. I suppose it is a way for Yale to attract applicants they would like to apply, but the even itself is not meant to improve one's chances of admission.
