I am with you Solaris. I think the Yale essays are pretty tough (especially the optional ones).

You need to explain like 5 things in each essay.... meh

I think I will add Yale to my list for R2...really attracted by their focus on social impact and the essays fit very well with my goals & accomplishments.

that being said, i have a question on one of their essays...more specifically on the definition of "professional":

Quote:
Describe a professional accomplishment that exhibits your leadership style. The accomplishment should include evidence of your leadership skills, a description of the actions you took, as well as the impact you had on your organization.

i lead a volunteer employee group at work that is extracurricular in the respect that there is little-to-no overlap with my "day job," however it has made a great impact on our organization as a whole. by "professional" is the adcom looking for an example strictly from my profession (engineering), or something that has made an impact in the professional environment that i work in?

I have sad news to report to the GMATClub community about Yale SOM and also an exciting look into the future. I want to let you know what is going on before rumors start flying around. Joel Podolny, Dean of Yale SOM, is leaving the university on November 1 for a position at Apple. While we are all upset about the departure of Podolny due to the many changes he has instituted, his interim and possible replacement, Sharon Oster, is very capable. She is a world-renowned economics professor and has been at SOM for over 20 years. Also, she was an integral decision maker in the new curriculum and is focused on moving forward with the changes and innovative ideas already in place. Dr. Oster will be missed in the classroom, but we are excited to have her as our Dean. Let me know if I can address any specific questions in the ambassador section.

Oh no, that's rather disappointing. J-Pod was a big reason behind my interest in Yale!
Dean Oster will have her work cut out.

Any idea when Yale SOM interviews are likely to come through based on when they were sent out last year?

I submitted my application in R1. Why don't we have a list "submitted, interviewed, dinged, admitted" for this thread? How many gmatclubers applied for Yale in R1? Come on, lets do some number crunching overhere. :)
