I had my interview with an alumnus (off campus) today.
He was very upbeat about his Chicago experience and was casual in his approach. He focused on goals, why MBA and why Chicago. We spent a good chunk of time on why MBA. The duration was about 30-35 min. He mentioned interview was 40% and application was 60% in terms of weightage. I think I left a good impression, hope I get the admit :-) Fingers crossed!

sounds like you did great! good luck!

Congrats!!

Wow, 40% to the interview? That's a lot. I feel like mine went very well, so I guess at this point I do hope that's true.

I don't know about that. I got the feeling that interviews aren't weighted that highly at Booth. For example, rhyme said he had a bad interview and he got in.

I've never heard that either. In fact, I think I remember the adcom saying they sometimes take interview feedback with a grain of salt. The reason was that some people just don't get along that well, and that chemistry affects the feedback; so you could get a good candidate with terrible feedback just because the candidate and interviewer didn't click. I could be remembering wrong though...that was back in April.

Interviewed on Monday. The facilities are outstanding and the students are very friendly and approachable. I honestly have fallen in love with Chicago Booth.

I'm so happy to hear you had a great experience there! My interview experience on campus is what sold me to on the school too.

I think it sold a lot of the people visiting. I talked to more than a few of the interviewees and they seemed to share my enthusiasm for Booth.

Re: Calling Chicago (Booth) Applicants for 2009 [#permalink]
Anyone else interviewing on-campus on the 2/28?

I'm getting pretty nervous about the interview even though it's two weeks away. I usually interview well but I reeaaallllllly want to get admitted into Booth, so I don't want to blow it. Any extra tips are appreciated. I'm already looking at the interview reports on ClearAdmit and Accepted.

I'm very excited to get the invite from Booth but my confidence was shaken a little by the ding w/o interview I got from LBS yesterday. I expected those two outcomes to be the other way round. I s'pose I should be happy it's this way and not vice versa since I ranked Booth ahead of LBS on my list.

Wish me luck!

I would just do a search on peoples' interview experiences from round 1 on this thread, and also last year's applicant thread. The interview is pretty short on campus, about half an hour, and remember to just be yourself - have experiences on hand to talk about leadership, teamwork, challenges, and failures. Know your resume and have a solid answer for Why Booth, Why Now, and Why an MBA.

I recommend being familiar with the curriculum and courses offered, and also extracurriculars you would be interested in if you attend.

@olive: Thanks! Good advice! And congrats on your admits and your decision.

@arshia22: I may run into you then. I'm planning on doing the tour and lunch with students, time permitting; I'm heading home Saturday evening.
