Invited to interview today. What a great feeling. After being dinged at Kellogg, I had started to think that I was way overreaching, and had begun to move on with next options for my future. I'm likely going to schedule my interview very soon.

My biggest concern about my profile is that I am a bit light on extracurriculars. Outside of a few hours of volunteer work each month, my life basically consists of working and trying to see my wife as much as possible. I think this came off very poorly during my interview at Kellogg- do any of you have any advice as to how to handle this differently? I think I may just explain how my current circumstances have made it difficult to get as involved as I would like to be, but X, Y, and Z are things that I want to get a lot more involved with at Booth.

Anyway, it is exciting to have this second chance, I really thought given my poor GMAT quant score, I would be a ding at Booth, but once I was able to visit a few times and talk to students, I came away with a much better understanding of the school, and a lot more respect for the "vibe".

Thanks to Cosimo and Philipp for their thoughts about the program, and the beers at LPF. Good times!

that's awesome sset and manbehindthecurtain!

manbehindthecurtain, what types of extracurriculars do you have? I think Kellogg likes to see more extracurriculars than Booth does but that's just an assumption of mine. In the application they asked about travel, undergrad, post-grad - I would just try to show that although you may have a heavy work schedule, that you are interesting because of a,b,c hobbies and have been to x,y,z places etc. Plus there's nothing wrong with being a family man - schools understand family commitments as long as you present yourself in the right light. You'll be fine - congrats!

I got it! I've already lost hope as 10 day rule says that I'm almost out. (submitted - January, 7)

One question guys...On my application status, i see the following....

Test Scores Verified for Completeness: Yes
Tests Waived No
Tests Verified No

does it mean that Chicago Booth didn't receive my official GMAT scores...I sent it long time back...

Thanks...

What does the "10 day rule" mean? Is there a relationship between invitation date and acceptance odds.

I hate these questions, why do I ask them?

Those of you coming to GSB Live this Friday, if you want to come to TNDC the night before, I believe it will be at John Barleycorn's at 3524 N. Clark Street. PM me later in the week to confirm, but I'm pretty sure thats this week.

Logistics question: I'll be finished on campus around 3:00 pm, and my flight leaves O'Hare around 6 pm. I'll be staying at a hotel near the Magnificent Mile the night before. Can I take my luggage down to Booth and leave it in the admissions office during my visit? That way I can go straight to the airport from there. I took one of those shuttles from I-House last time I was there. Is there a better/cheaper way to get from Booth to O'Hare?

I think you can leave luggage in there - most adcom offices seem to have a nook/closet where you can leave suitcases. Not sure about cheaper/better ways to get from Booth to O'Hare..
