i stayed at international house on 2 occasions. its only a couple blocks from the bschool, but it is a pretty crummy place. very loud hallways and you will most likely have a communal bathroom. its cheap though, around $60-70/night.

:-D That's true about the I-House. But the I-House also has 2 suites with attached baths etc. that are also available, but they're pretty popular with visiting faculty. The Quadrangle Club also has some nice rooms but they're generally sold out.

Stay at a proper hotel downtown and bus it to campus within 25 mins if you really want to be comfortable. The Hilton Towers on S. Michigan can often be had for $75 - $85 a night on Priceline.com or Hotwire.

Hey dosa I know that feeling. Chin up - you'll get into Wharton and Kellogg - especially kellogg that way you'll still be in Chicago as a member of our Gmat club skull and bones.

DING...sort of hurts as I thought I had the best shot at GSB and now didnt even get an invite...thought my essays were good and my why chicago part was very personal. My PPT was neat (I think). Do down to Wharton or Kellogg or else its going to be Ross...

I was pretty comfortable at the dorm rooms of I-House, and the 10 minute walk to Harper Center can't be beat (along with the $70/night cost).

I booked a 3 star hotel near the downtown loop at ~USD100 / night. Costs USD 1.75 to get there by train - unbelievable (in Sydney its AUD 24 for a return train ticket to the airport).

There are also some really drab "3-star" hotels downtown that nowhere close to being worth $100/night.

the Congress plaza is a horrible hotel.....if you have a chance, change your reservation. Check out some reviews on yelp.com.

The Palmer House Hilton is a nice hotel for that price, kwam. You can catch the bus to Hyde Park right outside!

Hi tsaditya, I'm from SE Asia too. I sent in my official transcripts beginning of Feb and they were reflected in the system Feb 13. Think you may want to call them up to check.

has anyone sent in their transcripts directly from the school and has ur status been updated on Chicago's online portal. My transcripts were posted from Singapore 1st week of Jan but the Official Transcript Received Status is still not changed.

Exactly -- I've done the same thing each time I've needed to book hotels in Chicago and I've always managed to get the Hilton Towers, the Palmer House, the Omni (not the fancy one on N. Michigan) or the Wyndham for around 80$ a night.
