navy- I was asked the ethical dilemna question. The question was (I am paraphrasing)-" Recently we have seen a slew of scandals in the business world- Enron, Options backdating etc. What do you feel about these?". And this lead to "Tell me about a time when your ethics were challenged"?

The other questions were standard. I believe most interviews also had the difficult "Which other schools did you apply to" question as well.

Regarding WL's, all schools seem to have a higher than normal WL quota this year in R1. My take is that a lot more students applied in R1 than normal (all of us now know that applying earlier is better!) and the schools are evaluating the pool with the R2 guys.

For those of you who interviewed, can you list some of the questions you were asked (if you don't mind). I know last year they asked about an ethical issue, but I don't think that was one of their question prompts this year.

Also, I read on clear admit that the number of waitlisted applicants has risen dramatically. Do you think they are just waiting to see what comes in at the last minute?

I was asked about international experience. Other than that, it was all standard questions. Also, I'll say it once and I'll say it 1000 times, make the interview into a conversation. There will be standard questions, just make sure it is not "standard" interview.

Has anyone interviewed with an alum in NYC? I tried reaching out to a few people and some emails dont work, and I haven't heard back from others. Can anyone share how long it took to schedule with an alum?

I'm trying to set one up in SoCal right now. I reached out to one alum on Monday, another on Wednesday, and nothing yet from either. On Saturday, I'll reach out to another alum before simply sending a note to the other 4 choices on Mon/Tues.

Ryguy,
Any luck scheduling interview? It took me a few days as well because I wasn't getting any responses but then the 4th person I emailed got back to me right away and I just scheduled it today. Good luck!

I actually just got it set up on Friday afternoon, after no not hearing back from a couple folks and getting some "reminder" email notices from adcom. I'm scheduled to meet with an alum in SoCal this afternoon. Best of luck Kalia.

Had my interview this afternoon. It seemed pretty in line with the experiences that everyone else had shared. Very very very very -did I say VERY informal and conversational. My alum could not have been more laid back. We chatted for about an hour and then he said, oh geez, we better get through these questions that they are making me ask! He was very interested in my professional experience, in particular my current employer. I wasn't too surprised because of the many headlines my company has been in in the last six months. We also talked about the NCAA tournament, and the current status of the financial markets. He also did a bit of selling on Columbia. The alum gave me some recommendations on how to get the most out of Columbia and even a class or two that are "can't miss."

Definte questions:
Why MBA
Why Columbia
Why career X after MBA?
Ethical Dilemma
International Experience
Extracurriculars
An experience that you have experiences that others would be surprised to know about you

Overall, it went about as good as I could have expected. In total, the conversation lasted about 90 minutes. He said that I should let him know when the decision is made. I'm hoping that's a positive indicator.

Many thanks for those who assisted me. You know who you are ;)

Good stuff, ryguy! It sounds like a great interview. Keep us posted when he submits his interview feedback. After that point, it shouldn't be too long until you hear a decision. We're all pulling for ya!

I only also applied to K and OSU (my home institution). I'm still "waiting" to hear from K, but as of today I just got offered a fellowship at Columbia, and nothing to laugh at, so it would take something insane from K for me to actually forfeit my deposit. If I had to compare the schools based on my interaction with them thusfar, I have found the Columbia process much more enjoyable and straight foward than dealing with K. But I haven't visited K yet, so I can't really compare the environment there.

Congrats Doc!!! Really great to hear!!!

I have a quick question for you guys. I submitted RD on 1/9 and my app went complete on 1/17. That makes it almost 9 weeks that my app has been complete. I have heard absolutely nothing. Does this mean I am a likely ding? Anybody else going through the same thing?

I submitted mine on 1/10 and still silent. I forgot when it went complete, but it has been under reviewed since 2/13.

Still Silent!!!

I should clarify. I didn't actually interview so I was wrong when I said my app went complete. What I actually meant was that my application has been under review since 1/17. I don't think anyone's app goes complete until after they interview. Anyway, atleast I am not the only one still waiting.

Personally, I think my application has adcom on the fence. I am probably not a straight up ding nor an immediate interview invite. I think adcom is waiting to see how the class forms and then will make a decision on what to do with my app.

By the way, I have had way too much time to think about this and I am probably way off, haha.
