There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
During R1 the invites were spread out over a couple weeks. There seemed to be about two big waves - one right around the day they said invites would begin to go out, and another a few days before the end of the window. They gave about 2-3 weeks between the invite and when you needed to interview, and I think there was a choice of about six or seven different dates to interview. Your timing might work out pretty well. Just don't confuse your why Chicago points with why Kellogg... I did Chicago and then Wharton interviews two days in a row and it was a bit tough keeping everything straight. Good luck!

Thanks, I have my Kellogg interview on Feb 16 and plan to take a tour after the interview (not ideal, but i cant make it out there earlier), plan to visit Booth on Feb 17, and i leave Chi on the 19th, so i hope to get an invite to Booth for the 18th or 19th. If not, its not the worst place to visit again
Got an email saying that my application status had changed, and that I was invited to interview. Was also asked to log on to the ApplyDirect site to schedule an interview.
Hey Reality, was that all in one email or did it come in separate emails? Also, was it all in the same day?
"The University of Chicago saw a 42 percent increase in undergraduate applications for next fall's freshman class, an astounding number even among universities accustomed to double-digit increases."
If the same happens with the FT MBA applications, I'll be damned
I think received status is not something to freak out. It means that they haven't opened and reviewed your file yet.
If I had been complete for a while like mine, your worrying was justified. Never the less, the mail said contact them on Jan 27 if its still not complete. (if I remember correctly)
I haven't received a word from any of the schools I apped.....to top it all, I dont have a life now....I will just drink beer and watch football!

Correction: you didn't have a life before, now you have your life back and can resume watching football and drinking beer. Don't let the application process ruin your perspective
Don't worry bud, me and a friend of mine are both in "received". Not going to stress out until the 27th. Go out, have a beer, get some sleep, watch a movie, spend some time with your family - this is the time to catch up on everything we've missed during the application season.
random bit of information... i just visited the Booth campus yesterday and went to the information session. They said they'll be sending out interview invites in batches all the way until 9AM Feb 17!
I'm waiting for a possible invite as well, but for those worrying (like me!), they're targeting to finish/send out last batch of invites by 9AM Feb 17, so there's still lots of time to get that interview invite! (:
I'm just in Chicago for the weekend to visit. My app went complete 1/15, so i'm getting anxious but trying not to be
They didn't talk about the volume of apps during the session, so I'm not sure how it compares to previous years.. I'd imagine it's comparable to last year's, if not more though (just based on the volume at other schools)
i am a R2 applicant and went complete on 9/1, but still no invite.
i think interview should go on order of when your application is complete. are there many who who went to complete before 9/1 and have not received interview invite?
