Don't lose faith man, if the rec wasn't in already, I doubt they would have looked at it until the submission date. So you probably are in the deadline submission pile, along w/ pretty much everyone else.

While i hate speculating, this wait makes me wonder about the various ways in which adcom might be approaching the applications. Have they started piling the applications based on GMAT and reading it? Because, there are some who submitted it on Oct 14th and already got an invite. And the only difference seems to be a higher 740+ GMAT score!
