Even I got my invite today. Phew...it's been a looooooong wait.
It's gonna be on-campus for me. I'll be calling the adcom tomorrow to schedule mine.

Kryzak and other veterans any advice pre-interview?

Congrats to both of you. The only advice I can give is you have to answer why an mba now? and why Anderson? confidently. They are looking for you to fit in and want to know that they are your top choice. Your on the one yard line. Now punch it in for thev touchdown and join me a A days in April.

Re: Calling UCLA Fall 2008 Applicants [#permalink]
congrats beka and kk!

pretty much what ezd said, but make sure you KNOW why Anderson is for you. Be able to name clubs, programs, classes, professors, and culture that enticed you to apply to Anderson in the first place. You want to show that you are passionate about Anderson and would seriously consider them if they accept you. They are very conscious of yield, so make them feel like a queen. :)

Other than that, just relax. The alum interviews are very friendly and calm. There may be a zinger here and there (search this thread for red_s4 and my interview notes, or go to my profile), but nothing will be antagonistic.

Good luck and let us know how you did!

Re: Calling UCLA Fall 2008 Applicants [#permalink]
I'd like to congratulate all the admits, and offer good luck to those about to interview or on the waitlist.

Quick question...I'm from Ohio, will be applying in fall 2008, and I definitely want to visit UCLA/USC. I know schools like UCLA specifically mark down those applicants who visited, and visiting is the best way to determine if you fit at that school, as well as help you with your application. However, it seems those schools don't offer class visits until October. Would it be ok to visit in April, and do the tour and class visit stuff then? Would they know the following fall that I had already visited to show my interest? I just don't want to wait until October to visit...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you can definitely visit in April, just make sure you sign in at the infosession that you attend. They have NO other official way of tracking other than what you put on the application form.

Their class visit schedule is very late and UCLA is pretty much impossible to reach during the summer, so I would recommend you do your visits in the spring quarter to get it out of the way and learn more about the school.

Thanks for the quick response. I went to their website and looked at the schedule, and according to Apply Yourself, every single class visit has their registration closed, from now until May. Can we no longer schedule class visits that way?

on GMATClub, 100% :P

I would say over 50%... just a rough guess. Red_s4 and I should have more to report after the Admit weekend this weekend.

Re: Calling UCLA Fall 2008 Applicants [#permalink]
so I have a question:

I asked for the offcampus interview and I got all the needed information to contact my interviewer to set everything up. (I am in NYC). My interviewer hasn't gotten back to me (I emailed him Wednesday). I will be travelling for work from March 13 - 23 so I probably need to do interview before I leave. Should I call admission office and let them know about this situation or wait couple of days patiently for my interviewer to get back to me?

Thanks

Been there...done that..
If you have a number give him a call and ask him about it..I had the same problem with my Cornell interviewer.
When I called him he told me that he'd been meaning to reply but could not for a reason that I am not willing to buy.

If you don't have a number give him a day and then "call" the person you spoke to, when getting the alum contacts and do an FYI and get backup contacts as well, this time with phone numbers.

Whatever you do do not contact the second alum till you've informed the first one that he need not bother.

In other news..I've scheduled mine on-campus for the afternoon of 03/12...

Good luck!

Re: Calling UCLA Fall 2008 Applicants [#permalink]
so far so good... had a fun day at Anderson and got to chat with red_s4 a bit. more to come, but typical of Anderson, I got a binder from them without any content in it... hrm... maybe they want to reject me for complaining so much? :P

Anyway, a few stats:

R1-R3 Applicants: 3322 (last year was 2900 total?)
Financial Aid packages will not come out until May
Fellowship/scholarship awards will be out in 2 weeks for those who get them (crosses fingers)
Anderson's international exchange program and entrepreneurship support is amazing
Food = yummy

Any questions?

So if 87% of interviewed applicants get accepted, I wonder what you'd have to do to be in the bottom 13% ...

...and whatever it is I hope I didn't do it at my interview last week!
