Camille Claudet worked continuously through the 1880’s and early 1890’s with the sculptor Auguste Rodin; since there are very few signed works of hers, the inescapable conclusion seems to be one of Claudet conceiving and executing part of Rodin’s enormous production of that period.

Can someone explain me why C is preferred over E

I eliminated C - as it is in Passive Voice

IMO C uses past simple tense and all the others are too complicated and/or wrong. But you are right, they use passive voice in C just to make the selection harder.

For coordinated sentences that are closely related, it’s logical to have same subject.

In the non-underlined portion of the sentence “Camille Claudet” makes the subject.

In C: makes “conclusion” as central thought

In E: Event though the relative pronoun “that” begins and modifies conclusion, the emphasis is on “Claudet” and making the flow of the sentence logical
