I applied for 6 schools in total, 2 reach, 2 match, 2 safety. I applied for all schools during R2, so applications in Jan, decisions out by late March.
I was admitted into one of my safety schools with full scholarship + stipend, it is a very good offer. However, they just notified me early this week, with a decision deadline at the end of the month.
One of the "match" school is located only 15min drive away from my house, and I will also qualify for in state tuition, so I will be very satisfied going to the match school also. The decision date comes out 1st week of March.
My safety school gave me offer much earlier than I expected, and I can't quite make a good decision at this point. Is it ok to ask the adcom to extend the decision deadline by a week?

It's definitely ok to ask. You don't need to explain exactly why you want the extension, you can just say that this is a very big decision and you would like a little more time to talk about it with your family or something.
Some schools are more flexible with extensions than others, but you never know until you ask.

It's also completely acceptable to pay the deposit and say you will attend, and then go to a different school. Very common, but you lose your deposit.
